How do you bring order and routine into your life?
Do you have a weekly routine for meals so that you stick to budget?
Do you do, say, two loads of washing a day to keep it up to date?
How do you tackle your housework - daily, weekly, cleaner, never?
What about exercise?
Do you write down what you need to achieve by the end of the day?
My ex sister in law and family were sticklers for routine, to the point where they filled both cars up at the same time on a Sunday for the week, made and froze sarnies etc which kept them in budget. I used to think they were a bit mad but now I could do with a regimented routine, if only for a while.
Wat keeps you on track?

I usually do the washing on a Saturday just the two of us these days and we have enough clothes to manage a couple of weeks. We do the food shop on a Saturday morning, butchers, market and supermarket. If something more exciting comes up we do the shopping and washing whenever. We are not regimented about what we eat on what day at all just have what we fancy when shopping. We have a cleaner who comes every 2 weeks but her day is flexible too so not very regimented by routine in this house.0

I hate house work, so have forced myself into a routine otherwise it would build up and never get done.
I live on my own for the majority of the time, boyfriend stays over one or two times per week, so the house never really gets that dirty or messy, thank god. dishes are done straight after eating, try to put things away after using them so the place isn't cluttered, clothes washing done twice a week, and things like vacuuming, dusting, washing floors gets done on a Saturday morning, unless I have spilt something, then it gets done immediately. It also means if I am having people over, or someone calls in unexpectedly, im not embarrassed by the state of my house, it is kept tidy.
I also try to batch cook at the weekends so im not tempted to get takeaways during the week when I cant be bothered cookingMortgage = [STRIKE]£113,495 (May 2009)[/STRIKE] £67462.74 Jun 20190 -
I have a list of housework tasks to do each week, as and when I am well enough to tackle them. As long as *most* of them get done, I'm happy. The ones that don't, I prioritise the following week.
The only definite item on a set day is changing the bedlinen, as I need Mr LW's help to do that.
I have them on an open office document and headed with the "Week Commencing" date and delete them when they're done, that way I can easily see what's not yet done that week.
I do the washing when there's enough to make a full load.
I do a supermarket shop when there's enough of a list to be worth going AND I'm well enough to go (this one can be problematic); I send Mr LW to the monthly farmers market for cheese, eggs, bread flour and honey, and we visit the market stall for fruit and veg every Saturday.
Daily tasks I have listed on my PDA (no Smartphone here, thank you so much!:D) and tick them when done, and they're automatically moved forward a day. These include my exercise, which constitutes half an hour on the wii fit if I can manage it.
I do meal plan, but keep it flexible, in that 2 days' meals can be swopped around if it works out better that way.
HTHIf your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
I don't have a set routine as such but as I like my house to be clean and tidy, I do tend to do jobs everyday to keep on top of things and so things don't build up.
Toilet and sink are done every night before bed (I guess that is a routine), and vacuuming is done most days. It's no big deal though if things don't get done though, I'm not a slave to a routine and am fairly flexible when it comes to housework. As long as it gets done then that's ok.
If there's a few jobs that need doing or if we're going away and want to make sure things are done so they're not waiting for me when we get back, then I might make a quick list on my ipad to keep me motivated.0 -
I have a planner and each Sunday evening I make a list of what needs to be done that week (there is a list section at the bottom of the page). The list can include anything. I will then look at what I have on that week and allocate the tasks throughout the week. I don't usually allocate all tasks. Some are just left on the list for me to pick if I have extra time one day.
I definitely think it's good to have a routine or a to do list as it does make you more productive. I don't think it's good to be too strict or regimented though. I have met people who are so attached to their routine they won't break it even if a wonderful opportunity comes up.0 -
Only thing i do everyday is wash up, do washing as OH needs his kitchen whites cleaned every night for the next day and hoover.
Only reason i hoover everyday is because of my pets I have two huskies who blow their coats and I average half a large black sack everyday between the two of them
When OH wasn't working such long hours we use to do a meal plan but there is no point now as only me eating so I please myself.
I'm very much a live in the moment kind of person so having everything too laid down would drive me madFirst Date 08/11/2008, Moved In Together 01/06/2009, Engaged 01/01/10, Wedding Day 27/04/2013, Baby Moshie due 29/06/2019 :T0 -

What are you doing? Force stripping the entire street every day and taking their washing in?
I don't have routines, I do what I see/fancy/needs doing as and when it occurs to me or I can't avoid it any longer ... except vacuuming the corner where I sit, which I do for about 20 seconds a day 1-2x a day. First when I wake up, then later on if I spot some crumbs/bits.0 -
My life was dominated by routine when I was at work - I'm sure as hell not going to let it be when I'm not!0

I don't know where all the washing comes from. Some of it I think just falls out of DD wardrobe so she plonks it in the washing basket. However, I have tons of washing - towels and more towels (no heated rail in shower room). I think aliens just chuck it on the landing.Never again will the wolf get so close to my door :eek:0
