£75 would be nice but I'm happy to draw a line under it all - not their fault it happened and they dealt with it well...Mortgage free!

Although i can see your point I'm afraid i would have to disagree - according to the police there was no way they could have known it was stolen at the point it was traded in which was only shortly before i bought it and they followed reasonable procedures in that they took full details of the person who traded it in. The Police did get my details from CEX to contact me but of course that was yesterday, and I went into CEX this morning for them to sort it out, which they did. Of course, I agree it is unlikely that they would have contacted me themselves but the way i was dealt with when i did go in was very good and i have no complaints.
I know that - but when the police did trace it they tracked it to CEX, who passed on your details then the police contacted you.
You must have been concerned - you started this thread to ask for advice!
My point is that CEX KNEW you were going to be contacted by the police - they did not need to wait for you to call them but could have had the decency to notify you and advise what they were going to do about it; clearly you were the wholly innocent party. But if you're happy all well and good.Don't put it DOWN; put it AWAY"I would like more sisters, that the taking out of one, might not leave such stillness" Emily DickinsonJanice 1964-2016

They threw him to the Wolves thats for certain, he could have been arrested.
They should have called and asked him to bring it back, refund him and then deal with the police.I do Contracts, all day every day.0 -
i was very worried at first i must admit, particularly as the first i knew about it was a note though my door asking me to contact the police, and because the officer was then off duty they couldn't seem to find out why they needed to speak to me - although law-abiding a lot of things go through your mind!
Still, at least from my point of view i have an iPad that i wanted and in future will stick to buying directly from Apple as even though it will be more expensive you can't put a price on piece of mind - I have never bought second-hand goods before (well, apart from occasionally cars but even then i always use big dealerships) and won't again!
Cheers, for all the advice and opinions...Mortgage free!

Arrested for what??? He bought in good faith from a legitimate outlet - not from dodgy bob at the bar. As said previously, if it was a police matter then they did the correct thing by letting the police handle it - otherwise it could have gone missing (not stating that is what the OP would do - but there will be some out there that would)0 -

Also, I think CEX have done all they need to, and handled it well.
