Bought a stolen iPad from CEX

It is clear the Police didn't go round to the house.
they did but i was sleeping due to being on nights so they put a note through my door asking me to ring them.
However, I understand totally as to why they would do so, it hadn't occurred to me that people would do such things, but as a poster said above i am sure that some people would try and make out they had lost or sold the iPad rather than hand it back in and potentially be out of pocket.
So it makes sense that the police may tell CEX they will deal with it all (after all, it wouldn't make sense for me to have to take stolen goods back to CEX for them to take back in to hand to the police - it would start getting complicated), and then to try to get access to the iPad without forewarning the buyer (me!) about its potential fate.
Sure, when i found the note and then was initially unable to get details as to why the police wanted to speak to me it was worrying! But if i had opened the door when they first knocked then i would have been able to hand it over there and then instead of having to pop out the next day. Also, i would imagine that the police would much rather find out where an item is and go around and get it than sit waiting for a call from CEX to say they had managed to get me to come into the store and hand it over and could the police come and collect from them. Its not exactly crime of the century and i presume they would like to get it cleared up as soon as possible!
Also, i was in and out of CEX the next day in under 5 minutes with the promise that a replacement would be delivered to my house the next morning - 11am on Tuesday i had that replacement.
So, I'm happy, and ultimately, the only people who are out of pocket thanks to this experience are CEX, who i am sure could have strung out the process of either giving me my money back/a replacement etc for ages by saying they have to wait for further details from the police/the investigation to be finished, god knows what, but chose to instead just fix things there and then.Mortgage free!
