As for whether booking for Greece is OK at the moment, I've just come back from Western Crete and there is no sign of problems.
    Where did you stay please?

We want to visit Elafonissi Beach and Balos beach, but I'm torn on whether to stay in Kissamos or Platanias. We stayed in Rethymnon a couple of years ago and loved it.

Star ratings are subjectivew whereever you go in the World. Just look at if the hotel have the facilities and location you want.

They used to say England was a nation of shopkeepers. Greece is a nation of inn keepers, and I far prefer the smaller places to stay over the bigger hotels when I'm there. I can't count the number of times I've stayed in a hotel with spa facilities (it's probably in the high double figures)...but I can count on one hand the number of times I've used them, so why pay for it?

In Greece, you can stay in a 2 star but receive 5 star service. It's a little thing called 'Filoxenia' ;)

Could you tell us more? Sounds interesting;)

That link refers to European migrants, nothing at all to do with Syrians fleeing the horrors of ISIS and the like.

There's already loads of reports in the likes of the Daily Outraged that these refugees have "ruined" their stay in Kos.
Their stay was ruined? - they need to get a bit of perspective and think themselves extremely lucky for their lot in life
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

We stayed in Agia Marina at some apartments called Mirabello up a road opposite Alexandra Beach Hotel.

It's about 15 minutes on the bus (1.60 euro) into Chania Town which is lovely.
