Greece holiday advice

Options
Hi all

I am looking for a cheap holiday, a week away for myself and my wife in july. Ive been looking at the holiday discount centre and hreece holidays are very cheap at the moment. I imagine this is due to their economy and I wanted some advice on whether booking there is ok at the moment

Thanks!
I've just started entering the competitions (July 07). When I win I'll update this signature. Look on the bright side, I shouldn't have to update it very often.

    Don't go to Kos.
The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best

Why would that be? Don't believe all you read in the Daily Mail.

There's an awful lot of poor souls currently sleeping and living wherever they can at the moment in Kos.
I guess the risk for holidaymakers is that they somehow spoil their enjoyment.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

There's a reason they appear cheap! Read the bad reviews http://www.feefo.com/GB/en/reviews/Holiday-Discount-Centre/?id=666931

What is your budget for both of you?
Where in the UK are you?

It's likely that the main travel operators have had to off-load a lot of beds onto smaller concerns after they failed to sell.

In the next few years that corner of SE Europe is probably going to decline in popularity as the issues of the Middle east spill over

Of course it's ok. Greece is a huge country spread over a very large area. Even if you were concerned about pour souls coming over, there are plenty of other places that aren't affected, such as Corfu, Zakynthos, Kefalonia, Halkidiki, etc...

I'm off to Aegina, Athens, Evia and western Crete in 5 weeks time and have no concerns at all.

If Greece were to suffer a generalised economic collapse then it would affect the whole country... personally I would hesitate to put money in a Greek bank account at the moment, and if I visited Greece I would bring cash rather than relying on cards. However, even if the banking and financial sector were to be disrupted, tourism would continue as normal: it is too important for anyone to allow it to fail.
  • just back from Crete - went to a lovely quiet place called Sissi - stayed in a five star hotel but spent all our time in the taverna next door - Anixi Apartments - https://www.facebook.com/anixi.apartments?fref=ts
Fabulous owners, lovely clean pool, views out to sea and definitely where we will be staying next time. Try sky scanner for you flights and go from there.
Only thing is they don't allow kids in the taverna - not sure if you have any but great for those that don't!
