DVLA are messing up my life

What are you recovering from, just out of interest? I might have missed something in your first post
I would raise your issues in writing to the DVLA while you're waiting on the forms and mention that you are still waiting at time of correspondence.
Also, could you rent a lockup or some such for the car, or park it on private land? Might be cheaper than a fine

Wow, is this someone who wants to offer advice or support?
I was diagnosed with ADHD so I had a lot of the symptoms including recurrent depression, anxiety, concentration, impulsive behaviour, exhaustion, etc (too long to list). But six months on stimulant medication (yes everyone else read that again - STIMULANTS - prescribed by someone who didn't assess me for more than an hour) have really messed me up and made some of these symptoms a lot worse. Obviously I'm now feeling well enough to start work again but I get very tired and the restrictions were in an attempt to ensure I don't get unwell again or are too tired to drive (ironic really).
Yes I may even have someone drive it and get the MOT done, as you're right. I can't afford the fine.
Thank you for your answer.0 -
I think most the posters here are being a little harsh on the OP. We shouldn't be here to judge but to advise.0

Stimulants e.g. Ritalin are the "normal" medication for ADHD, although you should have been reviewed to see how they were working out.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....
(except air quality and Medical Science)

Yes, that was my second visit. I don't even remember it too well. I felt like I was on cloud nine - and even made comments like "I have unlimited energy - this is great!", etc.
I was on methylphenidate this time and had previously been on atomoxetine which made me feel sick all day, every day. Some people are better off on beta blockers and anti-depressants, and I'm finding that anti-histamines help a lot. ADHD, Parkinsons, Schizophrenia, Autism, maybe Cancer and Diabetes are linked to MTHFR (a gene mutation) otherwise known as Methylation Pathway Failure.0 -

Methylphenidate (aka Ritalin as its known) do not suit all ADHD sufferers, its not a blanket treatment for us, sometimes it can make worse some symptoms that wasn't an issue prior to taking it.
That said the ADHD doesn't seem to be the issue at hand but the past drug and alcohol abuse that was reported wrongly on in the report by the consultant.
The simplest way to combat this would be to send copies of recent drug and alcohol test results to them, to disprove the report.
Then nominate your GP or Health care professional as a person for the DVLA to contact for a new report to be compiled.
while you waiting on that, have someone with appropriate insurance to organize a pre booked MOT and get them to drive it in and from there for it to be MOT'D.
As for making complaints to relevant people about giving a mis-representation to the DVLA about you, personally would you want the stress and hassles of doing that ONTOP of this and what ever else your recovering from? I doubt it you would so my advice would be to bullet point on a piece of paper to focus your attention to the matter at hand the ISSUES you need to get sorted as a priority and leave out and forget persueing complaints at this stage.0 -

This is very true. I would say it also made me obsessive and 'locked in' to my own world (a little more like autism i suppose), although I was told I don't have aspergers.
My symptoms fit ADHD, but then there are a lot of conditions where those symptoms could be relevant. In 2005, I was diagnosed with bipolar, which many people would see as being the opposite in terms of methylation. ADHD = under methylation, bipolar = over methylation - but then there's great debate on that as well.
I and my GP are waiting for this form or forms - the next monthly GP visit is on the 2nd - hence the anticipation to receive them. He says he can't write for me but must be invited to report. Everything will then get sent at once, which is what could have happened in the first place if I was asked.
You have nailed it really. My GP has been very supportive and discouraged me from making complaints for exactly that reason. The fact that the consultant has been 'moved on' - if indeed he has, may indicate he wasn't entirely suitable in that role or department. He suddenly remembered to advise me to not take beta blockers as well as MPH, just as I was leaving the building...
I will organise the MOT with a local mechanic who can give it the pre-MOT before hand. I was confused because when looking online, I couldn't find out if continuous enforcement included MOT, but did find information that a SORN would dispense for the need. But I bought tax the week before the licence was revoked and I would rather keep positive and believe this will be over soon enough - and just get in and drive!
Its nice to have contact with someone who understands.0 -

SORN means you don't need insurance or tax.
The only combo you can't have is taxed, no insurance - but if you have anything BUT the full three (insurance, tax, MOT), then the car can't be on the road.0
