there are plenty of airlines that only allow checking 24 hours in advance. eg BA, you can pay to reserve a seat (if you do not hold status) which you will be able to check into from 24 hours in advance or you wait till checkin opens and take what is left...Ryanair offering this from 7 days in advance is much more convenient as you have more opportunity to pop into an internet cafe when passing rather than just from the day before departure

It's blatantly not more convenient as those airlines generally let you check in at the airport for free, and let you choose your seat whenever you want if you pay for it - like Ryanair.

That's not to say it's remotely a scam, hidden or even unreasonable however. If the OP has issues with following basic instructions I'd suggest they only fly by private jet on future holidays.

Use the Ryanair app on a mobile phone, its been discussed on here many times and from personal experience I can assure you it works.
This is a money saving web site, the clue is in the name, those of us who like to save money on our flights from A to B actually very much appreciate the efforts that low cost airlines, including Ryanair, have taken in recent years to reduce prices and make air travel affordable for large numbers of the population. As has been noted its all very clearly explained so if you don't like them then please feel free to pay more for all the bells and whistles you'll get from a flag carrier.

You can of course check in while you are abroad, but this would mean having access to a printer and the internet and the powers that be at Ryannair know that their customers will prefer not to do that.
Why do you need a printer? Just check in on a smartphone.

I notice that Ryanair have also dramatically cut the cost of having your boarding pass printed at the airport, this reduction does not apply to checking in.

The latest trick from Ryannair to get extra money from customers.
You must check in between 7 days & 2 hours before flying and until recently you could book to sit anywhere. Now however if the return flight is more than 7 days away, you are forced to choose a seat and pay an extra £12 for it. You can of course check in while you are abroad, but this would mean having access to a printer and the internet and the powers that be at Ryannair know that their customers will prefer not to do that. It's a decidedly dodgy hidden cost.

One its not new, two use the app or find a internet cafe, i've found hotels to be really helpful as well.. oh and stop with the pointless threads

Ryanair have also invented YET ANOTHER way to scam and rip its customers off.
    Step forward... THE RYANAIR APP.
I booked some flights on the app and the flights were priced in Euros. When you book the flight, the app gives you the option to reject the Ryanair company rate and chose the 'official' Euro rate.
However, when you select the "reject Ryanair's rate" option, it still books the flight at Ryanair's far inferior rate which adds an approx. 8% surcharge on the price. (EG on my flight which should have cost £450, I was actually charged nearly £40 more due to this scam)
SO BE WARNED, Before you chose to book a flight with this app, be aware it WILL NOT give you the actual exchange rate but instead always defaults to the "Rip Off" direct currency conversion with Ryanair

They certainly are at it again.

Low-cost airline Ryanair has announced a 25pc rise in profits and said it expects full-year results to be at the upper end of expectations.
The carrier reported net profits of €245m (£175m) in the three months to June 30, up from €197m last year.
Customer traffic was up 16pc on the previous year to 28 million, with low fares and a more generous luggage policy proving popular, the Irish company said. Ryanair expects passenger numbers to rise to 103 million this year.

    Shocking!

I was really ripped off by Ryan's Air: I flew from Bristol to near Barcelona, and they made me pay for a ticket!

BA also use this scam, they make you pay for both legs of a return journey too.....
