Sorry this is a bit late! The thread's been running away! The thread etiquette will be reposted every ten or so pages.
........:starmod:......................................................................:starmod:.....................
Here is the suggested THREAD ETIQUETTE. By following this etiquette, all posters, whether new or existing, will feel safe, unpressured and respected..
- This is a thread for support. We have discovered some good friends on here, but we promise always to welcome and include new people, and not to be cliquey.
- People may make suggestions to help each other, and might even ask if the suggestions were helpful or have been carried out, but we'll really try not to nag each other or put too much pressure on.
- The normal board rules about sexism, racism, homophobia etc. apply, but if we are careful we should be able to discuss almost anything without breaching board rules - so far we have discussed subjects ranging from child abuse to incontinence!
-If someone thinks that too much pressure is being applied, they can post the trigger word PENGUIN and flag up the fact that they believe there's a potential for someone feeling too nagged to do something. ANYONE could post PENGUIN if they felt there was a danger that suggestions were being enforced too much.
Similarly, if they want to discuss something that might be a trigger for some people, then posting PENGUIN would be a warning that what follows in the whiteout might be a trigger.
- So, if you think something might be a PENGUIN, please post something like the green bit which follows.
"I would like to discuss something to do with [insert subject here], but I am concerned that this might be a trigger for some people. Is everyone OK if I post about that?"
Then, when you post, repost the word PENGUIN above the discussion. Then post the penguiny bit in white! And the phrase END OF PENGUIN when you have finished.
It will look like this. You will be able to see the white text if you highlight it or if you quote it, (so please don't 'quote' a post containing a penguin onto the thread!)
(Harmless example follows here):-
PENGUIN
This is a penguin. A nasty, crotch biting penguin (CBP).
It isn't really! So you can look.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ozGTv0hxhpc[/url]
END OF PENGUIN
(NB on a tenth-page repost of the etiquette, you can see these penguiny words because they are white against the green 'quote' background. On a normal post, they will be white against white, and so won't be seen on the thread.)
IMPORTANT: It has been ascertained that some posters to this thread have found that there are certain subjects which act as triggers, precipitating a worsening of their condition.
To protect these posters, you are respectfully requested NOT to discuss these subjects on this thread:-
Religion. (Please note: it is recognised that everyone is entitled to their beliefs, and we respect those beliefs. It is only because of the fact that religion does act as a trigger for some posters, that we exclude it from discussion.)
N.B. Please don't even mention the name of the religion.
The afterlife. The reason for this is explained in this thread by one poster, and there will be others for whom this is a trigger.
We ask and thank you for your co-operation in this matter.
.........:starmod:.....................................................................:starmod:................
It should be pointed out that if anyone is feeling very distressed or close to a crisis, they do not have to worry about what they are posting, or whether it is a penguin for someone else or not. In a crisis situation, just post! We wouldn't want anyone to feel that they couldn't ask for help in case it's a penguin! The penguin thing only applies to a general discussion situation.
- More suggestions please.............We stress that we are suggesting that we AGREE some Thread Etiquette to HELP people who might feel anxious about posting, we are not trying to IMPOSE rules, just relating this to facilitating groups, so that people feel safe and able to participate as fully as they can.

Anyhow, we got back from London yesterday, we had a brilliant time, weather was nice, but it looks like it's getting out even nicer and warmer today, well it is here anyhow!
Here's a quick run down if anyone is interested! Like I said previously, I was abit under awed by London Zoo. I thought it was meant to be one of the best zoos around? There was hardly any big animals. No tigers, no Rhinos, no lions and only one (although I think there might have been more inside) giraffe, which was a long way away. The butterfly enclosure was good, but quiet small. The otters were very cute though we saw them getting fed. We were really brave, and went through the reptile house AND through the spider enclosure where the spiders were 'free range'!! Massive spiders in branches right above our heads!!
Went to the Natural History musuem which was interesting. Saw a Tyrannosaurus Rex and I laughed when it said it only had small arms that couldn't even reach it's mouth and thought of Codes pictures! They also had dinarsour eggs in the gift shop (my Dad got me one once, he always bought the best presents!) and thought of WaS! How's yours getting on WaS?
American buffalo was really really good! All the actors were fabulous, funny and heartwarming. I couldn't stop looking at John Goodman and thinking "yabba dabba do!" though! :rotfl: Our seats in the box were fab (still can't believe we payed a lot less for them than people down below probably paid), slightly restricted viewing from D's side, but still cool non the less! You had to go up a secret stairway and (the best bit for me!) we had our own personal (well shared with the box next to us) toilet! Sad getting so chuffed about a loo, but it meant no queues in the interval!Resisted saying "Oooo en-suite!" to the usher, as he's probably heard it hundreds of times before!
The next day we went to hyde park and got a pedallo! That was fun but hard work! The lady asked if we could swim and D answered yes (I can't!) so we went on our way. For some reason it doesn't bother me being on water, although I did have abit of a silent wobble when we were right in the middle and I thought about how deep it was!
Went on a speedboat again, and they weren't lying when they said it was faster and harsher turns and brakes than the rest!
On the Wednesday night we saw an article on the news about an art exhibition at the South Bank Centre which looked interesting, but the best bit....it ended in a massive helter skelter slide! So, after going to the shops yesterday morning, we decided to go before going to the train station! The exhibition itself was ok, but the slide was awesome and Sooo fast! Didn't expect it to be so, and screamed the whole way down! Apparently the attendant was laughing his head of at me!
Sorry for the war and peace chapter! :rotfl:
Hope everyone is doing ok today!0 -
Never having used a webcam in my life I may well go for the safer typing option anyway. Can you turn the picture off and just have sound (she said hopefully.)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
Ahh Georgie you mentioned the O word...OTTERS!! I LOVE otters, they are the cutest things ever even if they stink
EDIT: My brain hurts. I have decided to take a half day from work to go see some relatives who are nearby for the weekend.

LOL!!!
Reminds me of 21 nearly 22 years ago. My first proper boyfriend who I got engaged to but turned out to be laying cheating pig. Suggested we go to Weston Super Mare for the day. I said cool a day out.
He made me promise that I had to go on what ever was on the end of the pier. I had no idea but it was a little roller coaster. And I really don't like things like that.
I screamed all the way around.
And another story about people laughing at you. When I went to OZ I took a small beanie bag puss with me. No idea why but I did. He got in a few of the photos :rotfl: Anyway on the way back through Tokyo airport at security we had to out our bags through and bag puss was in an open bag so that he he could see out (yes I know and the stories I could tell you about husband and soft toys not being putting in closed carrier bags) And the security guard was laughing at me.

I bought a straw cloche hat a couple of years ago Calley, basically a posh baseball cap in design. How about something like that, or a trilby?
Thanks.
Off to have a nose now.

Luckily I didn't get that close to smell them, but I've heard that they stink! They were so adorable! Very cat like in a lot of their actions I thought. Was going to get a little otter soft toy or keyring in the giftshop, but they appeared to have everything but!LOL!!!

:rotfl: Scream if you want to go faster lol! I don't mind roller coasters after the first drop is out of the way. That first climb really gets to me as I'm not particularly good with heights. I'm not so bad with looking down, just not that good at looking up!

Hehe I know what you mean with the cuddly toys in carrier bags! This time I won a minion on one of those grabber machines! We went for an Italian in Leicester Square, and I was embarrassed to be carrying it, so I hid it under my scarf! :rotfl:

When we moved to this house. We moved ourselves. And had a large soft toy dragon called dippy who was not allowed to be put in any bags at all. My husband said if he went in a bin bag he would have to have the the top open so he could breathe  In the end he went in the front of the hire van with my husband with a seat belt on LOL!!!!

Awww bless! That's hilarious, I can just picture it now! :rotfl:
I see what you mean now, misread it before! Your husband wouldn't close the carrier bags! I always try and find a spare place rather than having to carry it, but it usually ends up poking out of the top lol!0 -

I was not having dippy strapped in my car LOL!!!!
He has always been like that with soft toys. I still have a the first soft toy he gave me. Got it from the shell catalog after collecting points:rotfl: Charlie Bear. And I still have a grey dog that he won from a grabber machine down at the coast somewhere. He has no filling in the neck and is called Mr Quick, Short for Quicksilver. Because of his colour.
My husband was a very soppy sod. And a gentle man. Opening car doors etc. Makes me sad and want to cry to think about it now.
