" " whats for dinner? " etc... Neither apply in my case as Im skint until my UC payment goes in on Friday 26th June ( assuming it does!! ) .

In answer to the original question.

    Probably tomorrow.

It really isn't a long call to check though, I called a few weeks ago and was answered instantly so not on hold for hours.

ps Just to tried to call them now.A total waste of time- listened to some automated message for 15 mins then to be told " We are sorry, we are really busy now.We cannot deal with your call. Please call back another time. Goodbye. "

Waste of time and my Uncles money for the phone call, as I thought!!

After 6 pm is probably the busiest time for the HMRC as it's the first chance people who have been at work all day have to call HMRC.

If you are finding it hard to contact them by phone and you feel it is due to them not answering the phone, you can complain in writing to them. https://www.gov.uk/complain-to-hm-revenue-and-customs
