Reclaiming Tax paid on PPI

SKINTGIRL
I have paid a small amount of Tax that I should not of done. as I was under the personal allowance for the tax year ( 2014-2015 ). I have sent the form off to claim it back- when should I expect the payment to hit my account?
Also, I included no documents to prove that I have incorrectly paid the taxi ( even though I have them if requested ). Will this cause complications or will they believe me as its such a small amount or around £70.
I sent the form off on the Thurs 21st May- when should I expect the payment to hit my account?
Thanks
Kelly.

Your post is confusing. What exactly did you pay tax on that you shouldn't have paid any tax on? The thread title suggest you believe you paid tax on PPI. Are you talking about insurance tax? Did you receive PPI compensation, and if so, are you saying you did not get compensation for any tax paid on your PPI? When you say PPI, do you mean Payment Protection Insurance?0

Hi there,
Yes I paid 20% tax on the 8% interest I accmmulated on the PPI redress, which equated to around £70.
Thanks

Thanks for clarifying, it now makes sense.
I believe HMRC aims to make tax repayments within 4 weeks but people have experienced processing times of several months. Perhaps ask on the tax board, or just ring or call into your local HMRC office and speak to them directly.0 -

I would call but dont fancy being on hold for 2 hrs and for the said call to cost me around £10!! Defeats the whole object of claiming it back!!!

Don't you have a calling plan with inclusive minutes? Or, seeing you don't have a job now, time to walk to your local HMRC office?0

Nope, I have used all my minutes up.And as to walk- the local Tax office is 23 miles away.Anyhow we are diverging from my original question.
Kelly.
Wait for when you have free minutes available then. Calls to HMRC don't cost much, even if they take hours (which they don't, as you will find out if you make them)0 -

I wont have any free minutes at all now until my claim for Universal credit is processed and a payment is issued on friday 26th June, so then I can buy a top up voucher. Yet again, diverging from my original question.
Please only reply to the query posted in my original question.

You might deprive yourself of constructive answers if you insist on replies to your original post. But hey, your wish is my command. Here is my answer to your original post:
Thanks, as if I do not insist then the posts just get stupid and dont issue the original query. Before you know it the posts will have mssg on it about " where am I going on holiday? " " whats for dinner? " etc... Neither apply in my case as Im skint until my UC payment goes in on Friday 26th June ( assuming it does!! ) .
