Looking to reject my new VW Polo Blue GT

Sounds like these faults could be simple problems, but the dealer is feeding you a load of BS to be honest.
Fuel pump/pinking, the pump is FA to do with pinking, pinking is an ignition timing problem. If the dealer is saying it's "pinking", then the car has a major problem, as actual pinking will destroy an engine.
I suspect your car was previously the dealership salesman runabout and has been thrashed to within an inch of it's life for 600miles.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

Have you mentioned rejecting car to the dealer?
I would go back to them telling them you are giving them one last chance to fix problems and that if it is not done then you will reject car. Put this in writing to them and copy in your finance company and VW HQ,
I mentioned it to customer service, they advised I am well within my rights and she will talk me through if thats what I want to doThe whining sound may just be a fuel primer pump. Used to own bother a 1997 Astra diesel and (later) a 2004 Zafira diesel. When I turned the ignition on, there was a distinctive whining from under the bonnet. It was just the fuel pump priming before I started the engine.
My dad has a 2005 Astra petrol and this does exactley the same.
He did mention something to do with fuel pump, but in the same conversation mentioned pinking and suggested I google it - I did and it got me worriedStrider590 wrote: »Sounds like these faults could be simple problems, but the dealer is feeding you a load of BS to be honest.

I had it from 26 miles, there was 13 on it, I took it for a test drive, then my OH gave it a spin, so there was 26 miles on it when I signed for it.0 -

In that one, it looks like a clear case of customer being an idiot.
OP appears to have genuine complaints about their vehicle, which are being fobbed off by the dealer.
What OP needs to do, is go to another VW dealer (different franchise) and pay to get the cars faults diagnosed.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

in my opinion you have no grounds to reject the car and if you pursue it then you will just be wasting your time and creating stresswizzywig27 wrote: »Grinding feeling when the clutch is disengaged - not resolved - dealer advised they could not replicate the fault
this may be a genuine issue but if the dealer cant replicate it then how do you expect them to fix it and how many times has it been back to be looked at?wizzywig27 wrote: »Whirring noise from driver side dash board - not resolved

Fans - this only occurred after dealer tried to fix problems with whirring noise (they ere trying to diagnose a noise that I couldn't really hear and didn't car about).
[/QUOTE]
so the dealer caused a noise in the in the fan whilst trying to fix a fault you couldn't really hear and didn't really care about so why did you even mention it in the first placewizzywig27 wrote: »Rear wiper faulty, not touching the window at very end of blade - resolved

if it is not down to the dealer then why even mention it
I think you are not happy with the car for whatever reason and now you are just picking faults with it to make it look worse than it is
if you want a second opinion then agree to pay an independant dealer the inspection fee and if it turns out that you have a genuine problem that can be fixed under warranty then you wont be charged the inspection fee
as for rejecting the car for the faults that you have listed, Good luck with that one0 -

I got that impression too. Sounds a bit like the OP dropped a lot of money on this car and now wishes they hadn't so trying to find fault so they can back out of the contract. I can't see any chance of returning the car for the faults mentioned - the best you can hope for is that they resolve them.0 -
Whining noise - as above could be the fuel pump. Simple test - when everything's quiet, turn your ignition on (as in all the lights on the dash come on, but engine doesn't start. Does the whine happen here, and maybe stop? If so that's just the fuel pump getting started and ready to start the car. If it's especially noisy, maybe there's something wrong with it.
SD card. Can the car do anything with it? Can the car format it? If so, do that. If not, read the manual and tell us what format it says the card should be. FAT32, exFAT?0 -

Thanks for the replies everyone...
The car is brand new to me, purchased in March, 15 plate with 1350 miles on it...
Issues I have had are:
Grinding feeling when the clutch is disengaged - not resolved - dealer advised they could not replicate the fault
Which could be the driver not operating the clutch correctly
Whirring noise from driver side dash board - not resolved - dealer advised its fuel pump/pinking
Yep the fuel pump primes when the driver's door is opened.
Fans making a flapping noise when on number two or more - not resolved - dealer said this is 'just the car' - strangely this didn't exist until the dealer replaced a part trying to fix one of the issues above
The flaps operate by motors now, not a metal cord like the old days. Does it have climatronic?
Rear wiper faulty, not touching the window at very end of blade - resolved
SD Card Error - SD Cards unable to be read on infotainment system - unresolved - dealer advised to buy 16gb card, even though supports up to 64gb
Format the card, and ensure it is placed in the correct slot, there are at least 2 slots and SD1 is often for the navigation.
On a side note, the car is VERY prone to scratching, like massive amounts of it since i got it. I know this can't be put on the dealer, however there does seem to be a high amount of them in strange places.
Depends where you are parking it or driving it.
The original grinding was found after approx 1 month, took in to dealer advised me it was a high performance clutch so I could feel vibrations
Whirring noise has been there as long as i can remember, advised garage after two months when it went in for the clutch
Fans - this only occurred after dealer tried to fix problems with whirring noise (they ere trying to diagnose a noise that I couldn't really hear and didn't car about).
I think this covers all he questions, anything else please ask
Oh, I would expect the warranty to cover 99% of the car, obviously taking out tires etc, as it is so new and so little miles!
See in blue, some of the symptoms you could show us by recording them with your mobile phone.0 -

Funny, VW customer service didn't seem to think I had no grounds, nor did they seem to think I would be wasting my time, but thats your opinion
this may be a genuine issue but if the dealer cant replicate it then how do you expect them to fix it and how many times has it been back to be looked at?
To be honest, as far as I am concerned the issue is there and needs resolving
regarding this you said
so the dealer caused a noise in the in the fan whilst trying to fix a fault you couldn't really hear and didn't really care about so why did you even mention it in the first place
To clarify, I went in referring to the whirring noise (noise A), dealer was trying to resolve another noise they could hear (noise Z), the noise they let me listen to (noise Z) I had no issues with and to me sounded normal. When trying to resolve noise Z they have created the problem with the fans (IMO). I think this is a case you read what you wanted to read without actually reading what I said
hardly grounds for rejection
debatable
do any other/smaller SD cards work in the entertainment system?
Yes
if it is not down to the dealer then why even mention it
Because someone asked what problems I've had
I think you are not happy with the car for whatever reason and now you are just picking faults with it to make it look worse than it is
I will clarify this, I AM happy with the car, what I am not happy with is paying upwards of £20k for a car and it having these issues.
if you want a second opinion then agree to pay an independant dealer the inspection fee and if it turns out that you have a genuine problem that can be fixed under warranty then you wont be charged the inspection fee
I dont think I should pay for anything, the car is under warranty and has these issues, its 3 months old and done roughly 1300 miles
as for rejecting the car for the faults that you have listed, Good luck with that one

Please see my point above. I actually love the car, although unsure why I need to justify this. If I do reject the car I will be asking for another one exactly the same. As mentione above, the person I spoke to at VW seemed to think I had grounds to reject it.Whining noise - as above could be the fuel pump. Simple test - when everything's quiet, turn your ignition on (as in all the lights on the dash come on, but engine doesn't start. Does the whine happen here, and maybe stop? Hello, the noise does not happen until the engine is running. The noise is persisent. The format of the SD Card is FAT32 and I have formatted it.
To make things easier I have answered all the above in blue.0 -

I've spoken to VW customer service who said I have to put it in writing to the finance company (also VW) as they own the vehicle (it's on PCP). Thanks in advance
And there lies the problem You cannot reject the car, the finance compnay have to do it.
We tried to reject a Renault on Renault PCP but the finance company would not reject it. They said Renault told them the car was fine so that was it.
We heard and felt an intermittent clonking from underneath the car.
Despite many trips to the garage the area manager told us there was no fault
He did suggest the aircon was hitting the engine so added rubber spacers.
Then he changed the shock absorbers ( not necessary but just as belt and braces')
Renault complaints merely told us the garage said there was no problem.
The local service manager told me - unoffically- that two other cars which came on the same transport delivery had the same complaint.
We ended up paying off the finance and trading the car in.
Due to Renault's attitude we would not buy another Renault despite that being our third Renault car and my husband owning his second renault van.0
