Thanks belleandthebudget and hi! I just think along the same lines as when I gave up smoking - just don't have one/get anything today0

Pay day tomorrow :j I'm going to try for a NSD which has NEVER happened before, I always get a bit excited on pay day and buy something almost just for the sake of it - wish me luck!
Spent £9 today but happy with that as it was for my favourite coffee that was on offer in Sainsburys (so bought three), I would have bought it at full price anyway so job's a good un!
Also did an online shop for cupboard and freezer stuff which comes on Friday, should only need to get fruit and veg at the weekends and a few bits and bobs to get me through July :T0 -
Pay day yay :j:j AND I managed to have a NSPD (No Spend Pay Day!), it was so haaaaard, nearly bought a steam cleaner, a pair of trainers and I nearly went to Boots then I nearly bought a kabuki brush online but I managed to stay strong :A
Made a bit of a headstart on my July "get" £50 challenge; traded in a book on Amazon and sold a pair of shoes on FB so that's £23 already and I still have the pile of stuff to stick on Ebay (sigh!).
Busy day tomorrow - car in for it's service (fingers crossed), doctors appointment, trip to the charity shop to drop off some stuff that isn't Ebayable, trip to the Post Office to post book to Amazon, online food shopping delivery, gym, landlord coming to fix a window - phew!
I'm a little confused about something; why are people so keen to get defaults early on? As far as I can see they stay on your credit file for six years after you have finished paying off the creditor. Am I missing something?0 -
Lovely weekend by the sea visiting some friends, the weather on Saturday was beautiful, it was like being abroad!
The car service went well (£160) on Friday and I got all my little jobs done so feeling rather organised, I even managed to list three things on Ebay  Work is very busy at the moment, I got home this evening and felt the need to just sit on the sofa for ten minutes and stare at the wall!
Going to aim for a NSD tomorrow, I bought some more coffee today as it is still on offer0 -
Didn't manage a NSD today, it was really warm at work so a McFlurry was required mid afternoon! Going to make sure I take some squash in tomorrow - can't beat nice cold squash!
Emptied the last of the shrapnel vase in to my purse (all 54p of it) and put the vase in the charity shop bag, feel really happy to have got rid of it all and my windowsill looks all nice and tidy with just the one thing on it!
Stepchange payment goes out tomorrow so I will give it a week and then call the credit card people to confirm that the balance is zero and that they have shut the account and updated my credit file. So happy to just have the one creditor now :j
Will be a NSD day tomorrow, lunch and snacks are all sorted and waiting in the fridge0 -
Didn't manage a NSD today either - ARGH! Got some spaghetti and some tomato pasta sauce to go with the meatballs that are currently in my freezer, far too hot to eat anything like that at the minute though so will probably use at the weekend.
This weather is AMAZING isn't it! Everyone seems so much happier when the sun is shining
Today I have done something that I am not sure I should have done.......... I have applied for a credit card to try and help improve my credit file. I have opted for a very low limit (£200) and have set up a DD to pay it in full each month. My plan is to pay for all my petrol on it. It makes me nervous though which makes me think that I shouldn't have done it. Hmmmmm.0 -
I tried credit cards when I was paying off my debt, but never managed to control it properly so I gave up after a couple of months, still not good at it. Hopefully you'll have better self control than me!!Pay off Car Loan £17,047 £10580 by Christmas 2022

NSD today
I think as long as I only put petrol on it I will be OK Skinnylatte, that way I can only take it with me on Fridays (which is generally when I fill up) and I know what my usual "spend" is each month - I don't think I could cope if it was for petrol and food because you can go wild at the supermarket whereas petrol is just petrol, once the tank is full then the tanks full and there isn't a vast array of alternatives to browse and choose from! I feel like such a div sometimes having to treat myself like a child!
I'm off work tomorrow and have nothing planned aaaaaallllll weekend, hopefully the sun will come out to play for a bit so that I can read a good book out in the garden.
The bits I put on Ebay are doing OK which has motivated me a bit to get another five things listed. I've also got another carrier bag of bits to go to the charity shop so I will drop those in at some point. I never actually see any of my stuff in the charity shop, I wonder if they just have to throw it all away because it's tat :rotfl:0 -
Another NSD today
I've received the PIN number for the card and I'm still feeling nervous! I'm trying to think of it as being pushed outside your comfort zone at work and that it will make me a better person when I prove to myself that I can be trusted?????
Had a lovely relaxing weekend; read two books and watched a few films and did some serious cleaning (like toothbrushing the grout between the kitchen floor tiles ) and got up to date with all my admin type stuff so feeling in control right now.
I'm pondering whether to go self managed with my DMP now. After my last payment goes from StepChange to the credit card (HURRY UP!!!!) I will only have one creditor and it seems a bit of a waste of StepChange's time for me to send one payment to them and for them to then forward it on. I know they are getting busier and busier and I feel like their time could be better spent helping out a newbie - does anyone have any thoughts on the matter that they would care to share?!0 -
I've been a busy busy bee this week!
Earlier on this year I made the decision to stop buying "stuff" and to experience "things" instead. Since then I have done a few free online courses which have been of no use to me whatsoever in that they do not relate to my job in any shape or form but I still found them really interesting! I have tried a few different kinds of sports/ hobbies, mostly by vouchers on Wowcher and Groupon. I've had a bash at trampolining, I've had swimming lessons (even though I can already swim!), pole fitness (loved it) and tap dancing (freaking hilarious). Each of these "experiences" only cost around £10 for a few sessions and I'm so glad I tried them. I met some really good fun people along the way too. Just waiting for another something to catch my eye - I'm thinking something crafty next. I saw a little picture thing on Pinterest that says "Try Everything Once" and I'm thinking that I might print it off and stick it on my noticeboard as a reminder
So I now officially just have the one creditor (:j:j:j:j:j:j:j). I called them to ask what their thoughts would be on me sending my monthly payments directly to them and not via StepChange and they were happy with it so I called StepChange and have closed my account with them. They were really lovely and I will be eternally grateful to them, it felt like I was saying goodbye to a long lost friend.
I've been a bit naughty with NSDs this week so am on a NSCrashDiet until Monday :eek:0
