non as such , however knowing the nature of the "cut price" buying of products from china , I can see this happening again , because as such the EU cannot stop or fine the manufacturers , as , in the case shown n the newspper the retailers denied everything , untill it was proved.0

So out of thousands of sofas sold we have one unverified report, yet you are accusing the retailer of knowingly putting their customers at risk from a toxic substance?
The OP needs to follow the correct channels to establish if there is an issue with her sofa. You need to actually think before giving "advice" without any solid basis.0 -
yet you are accusing the retailer of knowingly putting their customers at risk from a toxic substance?
"Retailers initially brushed off complaints from customers, however these three companies subsequently pulled the products from stores and admitted liability. "
well they have in the past , deny that?
ok the OP has askd advice from the suplier and they say they have never heard of ANY faults with sofas that cause the problems they are having
so it must be that the OP is allergic to chineese cow hide
problem solved0 -

I'm not sure why you've taken umbrage with that particular part of what the retailer said. They're not saying its never happened. They're saying they've never heard of it happening.
Which could very well be true - unless you place an unreasonable level of expectation on them to know absolutely everything thats ever transpired in that industry. You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
I would imagine that sofaworks do actually know EVERYTHING about the industry they are in , including the cheapest suppliers in china
and refer you back to the statements of the 3 companies that HAD to pay compensation
"Retailers initially brushed off complaints from customers, however these three companies subsequently pulled the products from stores and admitted liability"
however as I have stated above
"so it must be that the OP is allergic to chineese cow hide "
if so then the OP should get help from there doctor , however if it persists then they should obtain technical assistance , and as the retailer has denied any fault , this should be obtained from an alternate location.

Has the op actually said it's leather yet?0

no , and they disappeared after there one and only post , so we might never know if it was the sofa or a bag of washing powder0
-
Assuming of course that they are all made in China. My Sofaworks sofa was manufactured in Nelson,Lancashire.0

I'd hardly say they disappeared . Only posted this morning!
well when they return , ask them if it was leather and the country of manufacture ,
instead of helping and looking for an reason for the problem and a sutable answer in order to sort it , all you are doing is firing back and challenging me
"How can you sit on a sofa yet get burns on your face?
Surely you'd have burns the second time where you came in contact? "
because the chemical in question is in a satchet that is stapled to the product
"Ok, do you have a link to that? "
yes , posted 3 posts above
I've previously googled that that link but reading quickly I can't see the reference to no contact causing skin burns.
That story was very well publicised at the time .
I'm well aware of it.
suffered severe skin or eye complaints, breathing difficulties or other medical complications.
"Who's denied ? "
"I called sofaworks to find out what I could do and after the guy spoke to head office he called me back to say there was nothing they could do and that they'd never heard of this happening before
and
Retailers initially brushed off complaints from customers, however these three companies subsequently pulled the products from stores and admitted liability.0
