I don't have an address for him. I text him that was a mistake I'll be getting vile messages all night now.

Now I'm a theif and blah blah blah he will have me prosecuted.

I've told him its all still there he's just got to text someone from work and he ca have free access to it. But he's being a prat about it. And accused me of being drunk! I last had a drink in early April lol. He knows I don't drink often but tells people I'm an alocoholic/on drugs/a !!!!! all the time.

You cannot sell HIS property and keep the money . Really it was a silly idea. He could sue you for the value very easily.

He has STOLEN your property. Go back to the police and tell them it is theft. Not a civil dispute. ( unless you lent him the key?)

Give him 14 days notice to remove. If he doesn't you could then sell it, but the money is his to keep- get receipts or sued again.

Who is the registered keeper of the car? If it is you, OP, then tell his work they are harbouring stolen goods. If it's in his/her name, tough. Presumably there is a spare key?

As for the rest of the stuff, and do just as Mojisola suggests.

The police stated categorically they would not get involved at all and yes I told them he had stolen the key from my property. But as he didn't break in to do so (he was seeing the children at the time) they don't care.

Whether he returns it or not who knows.

I can't see why the police won't get involved, of course it is theft. Suppose he had come to see the children and stolen your grandmother's wedding ring, or your valuable watch, or your purse (for example) whilst he was there? Would they not get involved then?

Time to start fighting back I think. Send him a letter (send 2 copies from 2 different post boxes, keep a copy yourself) stating that his belongings will be removed from your garage on a certain date for him to collect. State that they will be left at the roadside and, to prevent accusations of fly-tipping, you will be leaving a note with them, stating his name, addess (if you have it?) and contact details, should the local council wish to contact him. And get a new lock for the garage if you haven't already done so. (If he doesn't pick the stuff up, you could, of course, always contact the council yourself, regarding the unsightly pile of rubbish sitting on the pavement ;))

Is is worth appealing to his boss at work regarding the car key? If he's suspended, it doesn't sound as though he's that highly regarded there. If you took a copy of the car documents to prove that you're the owner, would that make a difference?

Will it definitely cost £200 for a key for a non-runner? What sort of car is it? You may benefit from posting on the "Motoring board" to see if there is a cheaper way of getting a key cut.

So go and make an official complaint. Breaking and entering is not a prerequisite to theft. Never has been

I'd rather the police were hunting down armed criminals than dealing with relationship tantrums.

I'd take the car paperwork and proof of ownership with me to his workplace, go to reception, and just state calmly that you have come to collect your property. Might work?

    So much wrong with this:

1: how many 'armed' criminal do you think there are?
2: how many armed police do you think there are?
3: should we only enforce the offences you think valid?
4: This is theft, not a tantrum

All depends if the key belongs to the partner.
    If it does, no theft.
