Funnily enough, I had expected it to refuse to install, but it did!0 -
Go to Settings | Storage and see how your device storage is being used up. In my case I have 2.85GB free but the biggest usage is App data and media content (4.97GB).
I did this, and it shows:
system memory - 6.73GB
used space - 7.68 GB
cached data 437 MB (I cleared this a couple of weeks ago)
Miscellaneous files 688 MB
Available space - 500 MB.
Have a search for the method to wipe the data cache partition - that should help free up space (and also help the device to run faster).
Did this a couple of weeks ago. It helped until today.
PM a board guide to get this thread moved to The Mobiles Board.
Will do this if I can find out who the board guide is.0 -
What did you clear the cache on? There's a few different applications you may need to do it on, I saw the same problem recently on an S3 Mini - it had a reasonable amount of free space but kept erroring on any attempted updates or installs. I cleared the cache of the Play store and the play services framework plus a few others and that resolved it.

Tap on Used Space and then post the resulting breakdown here.0

Would go out and look on Google or YouTube.
I have a Galaxy S2 on Jellybean 4.1.3.
The S2 has a problem where it logs everything it does and stores it on the phone in the main phone operations memory.
Cleaning this data log frees up a lot of the space where the the logs are stored.
Doing the above action cleaned up the phone so I could download further apps.
Have a look. if you don't find anything let me know and I will pass the instructions on how to do it on my phone. Please note I will not except any responsibly. The more I live, the more I learn.

The more I grow, the more I see.
The more I see, the more I know.
The more I know, the more I see,
How little I know.!!

I think I cleared all the caches from everything.
How do I check the cache for the Play store?0 -

My phone is giving the same error message again. I have now bought a 32GB sdhc card. I installed the card, got a message saying it was recognised, then nothing happened.
I have checked the settings, and the card is showing under storage.
How do I move stuff to the sd card?0 -
go to your phone app, choose keypad and type the following :-
*#9900#
This will bring up the SysDump menu ..
Press the second option down , which is "Delete dumpstate/logcat"
This should fix your issue

To move stuff to the sd card :-
Go to settings->applications
Click on various applications (big ones) and then inside there should be the option to "move to sd card"
Note : not all apps allow you to do this.
