Blogger competitions - is it worth it

The blogger had a fault on her blog but it is fixed now so you can comment. The blocking was just a fault: http://blog.bay-bee.co.uk/win-serenata-chocolate-hamper/ She is a lovely blogger and certainly doesn't banish compers from entering her giveaways:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

Read this thread with interest and all I have to say it that I have always avoided blogger comps as I read early on in my comping "career" about bloggers winning other bloggers comps so I try not to give them they traffic they are after.2017 wins = £1350
2016 wins = £125 (18 months off comps)
2015 wins = £6,460
2014 wins = £1,3500 -
Exactly right. I would never bother to follow the hundreds of identical blogs (Bit like the Stepford Wives). I have no interest in what they have to say about make up they use or how many times they went to the loo as though the rest of us, probably much older, haven't been using makeup for years and already probably know a lot more about it than they do. I do find it interesting that they don't seem to realise that without compers following them they would soon get a true picture of how popular their blogs are.
"It's when you have people that are clearly not interested in the products that enter everything for the sake of it, taking away that change for people that genuinely would use it / want it."
I'm quoting you here Lola. If you are randomly picking how would you know if the winner was not interested in the products and enter everything for the sake of it. A very patronizing and telling statement. Means you are looking up the history of winner tweets instead of just checking the winner followed and retweeted and then contacting the winner for details. That statement alone clearly shows how much you dislike compers.
Are their genuine bloggers out there? Of course. But how do you find them? Do you continue to spend hours a day retweeting not knowing if you will never have a chance?
Each to his own but my personal advice is to stick to the twitter and facebook comps run by companies or those run by prominent individuals. I have nothing to say about Lola's blog personally re comping because i have no idea if she weeds people out. But for me i think even the hint is enough to keep away.
On a final rambling note. I'm sorry but Lola you suddenly joining this forum and trying to placate and get people on side for something you DID say smacks of desperation and worry about being unfollowed. It's been said now and nothing you could say could erase that so people will now always have doubts about your blog prizes being randomly picked. I have no personal gripe with you. I have never been a follower but backtracking now just seems a bit futile. I'm guessing you made it clear compers weren't welcome and so they will act on that information.
Remember these bloggers aren't doing you any favours given the odds of winning even a genuinely run comp especially as most of the prizes as said before aren't particularly costly. You are the people helping them out with hits and tweets and follows.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff

Thanks BlueBella. I thought that might have been the case as when I had tried to comment on other Wordpress blogs last night I was getting the same.

Serenity2012 - I find that a bit harsh. I'm a small blogger (compared to alot of other bloggers anyway) and I would never just give the prize to a friend or family member. I actually buy a majority of the prizes I give away myself so if I was going to give it to a friend then I might as well just give it to them as a present!
I have a badge on my blog that says I welcome compers and I always make all steps on the rafflecopter optional so people can pick and choose which they want to do.
I have alot of blogging friends and I'm sorry, but excluding compers really is the exception rather than the rule.2019 Wins

Ah but see thats what i'm talking about. There are genuine ones out there and i know very well you are one of them so have edited my post to reflect your concerns. But there are hundreds that we can't be sure about. But yes there are many genuine ones but it is almost impossible to weed out those that are not so i personally choose to follow none of them. Its just a personal choice.August-September 2017: Lots of stuff

I do get what you're saying - I mean, after all, we do not know every single blogger. I'm just going by my experience.2019 Wins

What does "think twice" mean? Does it work as a deterrent for "professional" compers and put fear in their hearts?0

There's a FB page called 'Comper Friendly Blog competitions' I think the 'comp friendly' bloggers post their competitions there. https://www.facebook.com/groups/808257852576077/0
