Motability Delivery date

My friend will have his first Motability car.He has plenty of time and wants to order new reg for Sept 1
One Nissan dealer said it is too early to apply and he should apply in mid -jul to allow 6-8 weeks delivery for Sept 1.He says if car arrives early , the motability will request it be registered asap
However, another Nissan dealer refuted this .He said we can order now and stipulate Sept 1st delivery no probs whatsoever."You order in good time for Sept 1st you get it for Sept 1st"
Also the Dealers are not haggling one bit on anything.I've heard members here some have haggled -so are we unlucky and should we look further afield ?(not demanding btw just curious - we not going to travel miles just to get freebie mud guards or the like!)
Finally i have heard Motability next review is on July 1st-is it likely that Advance payments will go up ?
Thanks

Motability is a not what it used to be. No longer has it the clout to demand top rates from the manufacturers. Customers are leaving in their droves because of the uncertainty of a PIP award and the promise that any award given will be regularly reviewed.
Most are buying a secondhand vehicle over a few years on finance. That way they can stick the two ********* up at the DWP as they will not be left without a car if they don't get the PIP award.0 -
Motability review their prices every 4 months - I think the next one is August 1st. This is when they add cars, remove cars, change prices etc.
Wont get any freebiees out of the dealer as they are just the agent for Motability.0 -
My friends award is till 2026.However just recently i have heard of a a friend of a friend who has had their car taken off them for "saying the wrong thing" at an assessment /review
The dealers claim they make very little out of it
So -what about the delivery dates -which dealer is right ?0 -

Awards can be reviewed at ANY time.
I used to have a lifetime DLA award in 1995, that was changed to Indefinite in 2000 when they decided to review it. It was then reviewed twice more - 2002 and 2004 - both were also indefinite awards. I then had another review in 2008 and was given a time limited award. All the awards were for Middle Care & High Mobility. When that came to an end and I had to claim PIP they decided that I didn't qualify for any award!! And that is where it stands.
As for saying the 'wrong' thing. Maybe they said the 'right' thing and the DWP decided quite rightly that the friend wasn't entitled to the mobility award any longer?0 -

My friend in original question ended up from Low/Middle DLA to Enhanced Pip for both !0 -

Anybody that has a benefit award that can be reviewed at any time such as PIP, does run the risk of having their car taken off them should they fail at any one of the reviews. The whole idea with PIP is to put claimants under constant pressure (even if they have a fixed term award of up to 10 years) that they will have to be regularly reviewed to ensure that if the current award is still relevant even if nothing changes with their disabilities. As there are no more 'guarantee' awards as there were with DLA, the thought of losing the car is and will continue to increase. the worry. No award under is safe under PIP.
Hence why buying your own car is a much more sensible alternative.0 -

Ah, Andy and his grim-reaper forecasts return. Hey, don't bother getting a Motability car because the big bad government are going to fail your assessment anyway. Let's not just try and get a car and have a little freedom for a while, even *IF* it is short-lived (if Andy is to be believed).
I take each day and each challenge as it comes and I don't listen to f**kwits who may have had a bad experience and choose to spread their bad experience on as many people as possible.0 -
So -what about the delivery dates -which dealer is right ?
You are best to leave plenty of time when ordering, my son's current car took nearly 5 months to arrive and we had to get the previous car extended 2 months beyond its term - not a problem to do, just takes a phone call.
You can't order your new car earlier than 3 months in advance, and you can't take delivery until the handover day. My son's next car was ordered on 3rd April for 3rd July delivery but it was delivered to the dealer this week - we just can't have it yet.
Not sure how it works with your first car, I don't think dealers like having cars sitting there so really I would think they would want you to take delivery as soon as you were permitted. However if a dealer is willing to order it and store it until the new plates then that's up to them, they just can't charge Motability for it until you take it.
Just be aware that even if they say it's fine you may well find that when it arrives they demand you take it and charge Motability as that is their right, however you probably wouldn't use them for servicing and future cars so their loss long term.
I guess the way to guarantee you get the new registration is to just wait until nearer the time to order. As for haggling good luck but I wouldn't waste your time, I have tried and it's a 'no' without any negotiation. Whatever others say Motability has one of the biggest fleets of cars in the world and they get very keen prices. I have never heard of anyone haggling successfully, there was one guy on another site saying he had got upgrades and lots of extras, turned out he was making it all up and hadn't even got a free magic tree!0 -
i thought u werent able to order a car mor than 3 months in advance,,but im in the system,,never enquired about getting it on a certain date0
