    Hi guys.

Follow on from the above, my mum and dad have now received a letter from Zenith Collections asking for a reduced amount as they are the debt collectors, they want to pay the money now. I have told them not to, am I right??

    Thanks
Surely you are expecting the entire letter chain? I don't understand why anyone would ask this when 'ignore the debt collector stage' is covered with links to the tedious letter chain, in post #4 of the newbies thread and we've had pictures of those letters on here for nearly a decade (far too often).

Your task now is to search on Google and read the links in the Newbies thread post #4 & predict the next letter!

Why haven't you written to say 'we've moved, sod off or bother us here instead' (your address)?

  • Hi guys, me again.

Sorry for dragging this up, I thought it had gone away, dad received a letter this week from Gladstones Solicitors saying G24 Ltd has instructed them to collect the amount of £150 or they may take further action at the county court (do we have that in Scotland). Pay the money to DRPL. Are we still ignoring this, I know it says MAY take action, I have told them to ignore it.

    Thanks in advance.

Yes, ignore it. You do not have County Courts and they live out of jurisdiction.

  • Thanks Coupon-mad, was just reading through your advice on some other posts so hoping you would jump in. Just wanted re-assurance that they were still 'at it'!!

Can't believe they have handed it over to another debt collection place after a year. Felt like sending the letter back through the post with question marks on it or gone away but had to open it to see what they were saying. I am now assuming we will get a lot more letters now from the company - here we go again........

They haven't handed it anywhere. The Gladstones letter is a template sent by...Debt Recovery Plus.

  • Coupon-mad, I clearly need the idiots guide to this. So DRPL is asking for the money that is why they say contact DRPL and not Gladstones. So where does Gladstones come into it, surely G24 could get DRPL to recover the money direct? I am clearly missing something, is this just another step to make it look more official in the hope that people don't question it and cough up?

Spot on! Using solicitors' letterheads (pimped out by a number of bottom-feeding outfits) is aimed at turning the thumbscrews by a further revolution. Clearly works, otherwise they wouldn't do it. But it remains just a further strand of the debt collector chain mail. Only respond (with help from here) to a LBCCC or MCOL (see newbies sticky for acronyms).

G24 have never chanced their arm at putting together a court case in over 2.5 years, despite issuing almost 200,000 tickets.

Yep, a wheeze that we recognise as starting with a debt collector firm called Roxburghe who used to send 'Graham White Solicitors' letters as part of their letter chain (it never went near a solicitors' office any more than your letter has).

e.g. post #33 in the thread below shows the 2009 'Graham White' version of this current Gladstones copycat attempt:

    http://forums.pepipoo.com/index.php?showtopic=35247&st=20&p=359968&#entry359968

Of course, it looks more scary to get a solicitors' letter. It's ''rent-a-letter-heading'' basically and the giveaway is who they want the payment to go to, that's the sender. Debt Recovery Plus using a standard English County Courts letter because they don't have any others.
