step back , as you have realised in Scotland the cannot (or should not) go after the registerd keeper .

you know this , they know this , however theyh will continue to send letters containing threats of court action , in a hope you will ring/write and drop yourself in it.

if the address is a long term address , and your dad can put up with the junk mail without loosing his temper , sit tight , do NOT ring/write ,
  • Hi guys.

Follow on from the above, my mum and dad have now received a letter from Zenith Collections asking for a reduced amount as they are the debt collectors, they want to pay the money now. I have told them not to, am I right??

    Thanks

zenith = Debt recovery + = Parking collection services

    one company , different printer

    still ignore
  • That is what I told her, she had a letter from G24 saying they would accept a lesser amount before passing on to the debt collectors and I told her then that they are back tracking and to ignore that one. Now we are here, so it has gone from £90 - £150 - £120 - £79 today..............honestly praying on the elderly!!!

If their case is that watertight, why accept a lower amount? Why not push for the full amount?

The answer, of course, is that the reduced amount is better than nothing, nothing being what your parents technically owe these people.

  • I just need to convince them to sit it out and hope they don't go ahead and pay it before I get there tonight to take the letter from them :-)

Search for posts by a lovely chap called 'SodG24' ;) and show those threads to your parents - it will highlight what dodgy scum G24 really are and that they should continue to ignore them.

In Scotland only the driver can be liable. A debt collector can write all they like and ask for money. They cannot claim the registered keeper is liable though. If they don't know who was driving there is little they can do other than write scary letters.

Incidentally one company did write to people in Scotland threatening the registered keeper. They claimed the keeper was liable and should pay. That company (CEL) are now being prosecuted for fraud.
