If something is worth doing then it is a case of iIn for a penny, in for a pound, which means that when gambling or taking a chance, you might as well go the whole way and take all the risks, not just some.

From my now departed Grandad :
"A fool & his money are easily parted" throughout his working life, which switched to "There are no pockets in a shroud" as soon as he retired! I'm inclined to think he got the balance about right!!foreverskint wrote:Oh and by the way can anyone tell me why our christmas turkey is always affectionately nicknamed "cuthbert"

Where there's muck, there's brass. (Another version is where there's muck there's money).
Is that a Yorkshire one too? I always thought it referred to doing a cleaning job for money, but maybe it is more subtle?

I was reading through my household hints book and came across these :
- The devil makes work for idle hands
- Its no use crying over spilt milk
- Red Sky at night, shepherd's delight (it will be fine enough to put washing out to dry), red sky in the morning, shepherd's warning (it will rain and washing should not be put out)
- A stitch in time saves nine
- Take care of the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves
- Too many cooks spoil the broth
- You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear
- You can't teach an old dog new tricks
- Work expands to fit the time availableCreeping back in for accountability after falling off the wagon in 2016.Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!0
