I too had this happen nano and micro separated on removal damaging card reader in Moto g phone. Very expensive for me.
On Moto website is a warning about using sim adapters and only to use sims recommended by moto. Having e mailed them to check" if i used a multi sim would my warranty be void"? their reply was- contact your provider for a micro sim. My contract provider does not issue single sim any longer, only multi. It would appear a multi sim card is not recommended by Moto therefor phone warranty could be void. So where do we buy a single micro card.

Just slot them back together and put it in.
Seriously how many times do people ever remove their sim cards?
I have my current phone for 1yr and have never removed the SIM card nor could I see a time that I ever would want to.
To be fair I don't carry around the SIM tray ejection tool so it would be more problematic to try and remove it anyway.

Motorola warn against using adapters. A trio sim is perfectly fine as you have to physically break the tabs to change from each sized sim.
