Well today, we're taking DS to take part in Junior Park run. It's a 2k run following the same format as the adult races. Another of his friends from dance started a few weeks ago and has recommend it as a fun thing to do. It's free to enter so also good for us.
Awesome. Did he like it? Junior ParkRun is great, and all over the UK and the world. (Link)

Yes he did. Was a bit uncertain until we arrived and he saw how much buzz there was. He was off to join in before we'd even finished locking the bikes up. His dad took him round and they came in half way in the group roughly.
I really enjoyed the atmosphere." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

FVD - we are weeding this afternoon. Well son and I. It's amazing how untidy the big dandelion weeds are. I've tried putting bark chips down but found it was an expensive way to suppress them given how much you need by volume." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I have a massive dandelion growing up from between a crack in the slabs in the garden, in fact you can eat dandelion leaves, can't you? My first husband had budgies and I used to pick them for them. It's definitely big enough for a salad!
We're planning on taking up the carpet in the front room soon (I say 'we', DH doesn't actually know about it yet :rotfl:) so I may cut that to size to put down in the front garden and put more bark chips over the top. I need to give it some more thought as it might also be nice to plant some stuff in the garden ready for new pics if I'm going to re market the house. I have four hebe shrubs that have outgrown their pots and a couple of Choiysa but they won't be in flower at the right time. I my head I have a nice row of hydrangeas and a fully grown wisteria :rotfl:
I've emailed the estate agent, I thought he didn't sound nearly peed off enough when I told him on the phone, he clearly didn't understand what I was saying.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Afternoon all
Very early start today due to noisy idiots on the way back from goodness knows where at about 4.30am
Started off quite well, but a bit shattered now
So far I have:
Cleaned out front half of chickens' run (it was insanely early, and I didn't want to disturb the neighbours by clattering about moving the run and house to do the back half)
Picked some rhubarb from the garden and had the brainwave of cooking it in the slow cooker. I wouldn't have put the oven on just for that, so it would have been hanging around for ages waiting for it to be lit for other things
Went to a couple of car boots, not much spent
Meals from stores, cheese and salad wraps for lunch and the fish cakes I didn't make yesterday for dinner (we decided to light the BBQ instead, and defrosted a few bits from the freezer for that) Done
Other things still to do:
Fold and put away the laundry dried outside yesterday - none of it needs to be ironed, according to my admittedly lax standardsOops it is still in the basket
Must do this!
Move pots around in garden and plant out beans (I will get OH to help move the pots as they are big and heavy) Done
Finish cleaning chickens out Done
Water anything that needs it Done
Hmm, this all sounds a bit energetic given the 4.30 am start
Well, I am still awake, but will definitely be having an early night!0 -
Blimey, Dawn, are you asleep yet? I know I would be after all that :rotfl:
What breed of chickens do you have? I quite like the very pale ones with frilly legs but boy are they bizarre looking creatures, I love goats for the same reason!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

FVD - I know what you mean. The garden in this house is a nightmare. Our old garden was like the pet cemetery put something in the ground and it just grew beautifully
here they seem to have acres of bulbs for these flowering blue plants a bit like bluebells that are only pretty for about 3 months of the year. Rest of the time they just sprout green leaves. I've tried to dig them out but even if you pull out bag fulls of bulbs back the darned things come. It's very tiresome. In my head we have rows of lavender and rosemary. Both of which I have in pots. But in reality.....The dandelion you mention sounds positively gorgeous.
Dawn - that is an early start! Poor you." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

I have hybrid chickens which lay lots of eggs, as opposed to 'pretty' ones, two brown rescued ex batteries and a younger black one. I only have room for 3 now unfortunately, but used to have loads in the past when we had a much bigger garden. I love goats too - I used to keep those as well

The joys of living on a through road which runs between the town centre where the pubs are, and a rather rough council estateFriday and Saturday nights in the summer are worst, they don't tend to go out when it is peeing down with rain or really cold, and they don't have the money to do so every night. Besides, the pubs in our little town only tend to stay open late at weekends. It must be worse for the nice people who actually live by them though (and there are some, older people who have lived there for years, and some of the young mums - the oiks/ litter chuckers / druggies etc must get on their nerves as well).

That's great that you have rescue hens, I'd love to do that but I'm not sure how they'd fare with my cats. I know you have to shut them up at night because of foxes which can't actually get into our garden as I 'tried' to cat proof it so ours couldn't get out onto the busy road/railway line. After spending nearly £2,000 on PVC fencing they can't climb and putting up PVC trellis on the wooden gate on their very first outing into the new garden one of them scaled the trellis in a Spider-Man like fashion and squeezed herself through one of the diamond shapes to get out so I had to take it down for her own safety!Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)

Dawn- yes I remember you saying before now about the rubbish on the verges being an issue too. I'm glad it's not a constant problem but must be very annoying all the same. Can you sound proof more? It is very sad when people don't respect their surrounding." Your vibe attracts your tribe":D
