When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. :money:

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Good morning All
Thanks for the start Ally. Are you park running today?

Son's piano teacher is away this weekend so that's a saving for us. We've had a lazy start so far involving bacon bagels & boiled eggs for son and I whilst OH had a lie in. I used to be the lie in queen pre kids now I just cannot sleep past 7. So I'd rather get up.
Have few plans for today. Need to get to the bank to pay in the takings from yesterday. Could wait till Monday but prefer not to have cash around that may get muddled in with us over the weekend.
Have chicken pieces out and defrosting in the fridge for tonight.
We shouldn't need to venture into the Supermarkets this weekend.
Hopefully 1 of the 2 weekend days will be spend free totally.
Wondering if my Mr T vouchers will ever turn up. Has everyone else got theirs? Don't understand why the system is any different for me than others?

We started watching The Trip last night with Rob Brydon & Steve Coogan on Netflix. It's so funny. They just spend the whole time doing impressions of famous actors. Recommend it for a laugh.

    back later

    Morning DFW-Ninjas,

It's a really wet morning. Yuk! This is just a quick post as we're very low on internet allowance.

    New Era Day 8
    :

:grinheart Go for a free 5km run this morning at ParkRun (Link). Must admit I'm really not in the mood, but I need to go to a shop to drop off a parcel anyway so I'll give it a shot. It's an Anniversary Run so there'll be free cake at the end.

:grinheart Stay off internet at home. Getting close to limited allowance. Use library.

:grinheart Sold two of the three lots I put on eBay last night. Post them. Also post camera lens OH sold yesterday. Using MyHermes instead of RoyalMail.
The lens is quite heavy but MyHermes will post it insured and tracked for £4.98 compared with £15 by RoyalMail. Plus there's the added advantage of being able to drop the parcel off at a local shop instead of the Post Office which has limited opening hours. Also used Parcel2Go to compare posting prices.

:grinheart Writing this post off-line to save data.

:grinheart Pre-run breakfast of 14p noodles, soy sauce and a wee bit of fancy salami.

    :grinheart Plan a wet weekend.

Good luck on your quests, Ninjas.

Aye, running reluctantly in bad weather as there's free cake at the end!

Nope, no vouchers, yet. But then we do live in Elf-World a million miles away from anywhere.

    Debt-free and Proud!
Morning Bob and Ally, hope you both have good weekends. Good luck with parkrun Ally!

Quiet weekend planned for me. Two NSDs I hope. I'm going to a free museum lates event tonight, and won't spend anything while I'm there. House needs a good scrub, already got a load of washing on to go on the line.
Will do any surveys that come my way, really want to start building my nectar points ready for Christmas.
Sort out holiday clothes and begin packing. I don't think I need anything new, but if I do, it'll be Primark and Asda.

I forgot how boring my lists always are, but I know that everyone here is lovely and doesn't mind!

    Morning all :)
Thanks for starting the thread Ally. Enjoy the run / cake :)
Wet and windy here this morning - I feel sorry for the tomato plants I planted out yesterday :(

    List for today:
    Check banks (must do this)
Clean bathroom floor - black and white tiles show every speck of dust :(
Put odd auction bits away - they have been hanging around for a whole week now :o
No supermarkets / food shopping, but not a NSD as I need more compost and chicken food pellets from the farm suppliers just outside town
Pop an item into sales unit when passing (I will need to take the car today due to the compost and chicken food sacks)
Washing out on line if it dries up
Do more in the garden if it dries up
    Water plants in conservatory
Hoovering downstairs due to dog hairs. Honestly, we only have a very little dog, but the amount of fur she must have is incredible
Meals from stores - last night I boiled and mashed some potatoes that had started to sprout, and I will add some tinned salmon, parsley and capers and make posh fish cakes for supper tonight :)

Right, more coffee, then get on!

I always feel like that too, mine are much like the diary I briefly started when I was in my early teens, it was all 'got up, when to school, had dinner, went to bed'.

    Morning, campers!

What a bunch of early birds you are,I'm still in bed :o

DS has some friends round last night so I have a stack of washing up to do, it is however neatly stacked up in the sink so they are obviously better trained than DS is! They must have left very early this morning as they've all gone now.

Today we are taking my mum's car to webuyanyca and hoping they pay the price quoted. She has paid a holding deposit on the new(to her) one so, if all goes well, she will have it by the end of the week.

We're going to stop off at Mr S on the way back to buy food for tonight instead of going out then I will sort my delivery saver and do another online shop to be delivered tomorrow if the site is working for me properly today. I've identified the best time to be at Mr S for reductions on Sundays so will do that tomorrow. I managed to get lots of pasta type ready meals for around 50p last week but DH won't eat anything with cheese in it (apart from pizza which he loves??) or lamb, or pork, anything home made with mince, anything fried (the list is endless!) so the freezer is looking pretty bare for him.

It was payday yesterday so another £200 has gone into my emergency fund. I worked out I should have £2,100 by the time my contract comes to an end which would cover the mortgage for 3 months (if I still have one) but realistically, even if work is thin on the ground in November I will be able to find the odd week here and there to supplement it so it should last longer. If I need to I will apply for Christmas work at Mr S again, I applied last year when I was made redundant in December but then got freelance bookings so didn't take it up but if needs must.

If I manage to get a long booking (or even a job!) then that emergency fund is enough to pay off my CC when my 0 percent deal ends (then my non mortgage debt would be down to just my bank loan and my overdraft.) I don't think I will get any more bookings where I am now as the person that does the booking has been sidelined (through no fault of mine, just the situation I've been put in) but 6 months is a long time to turn things around again so I will try!

Have a lovely day everyone :)

    Afternoon everyone!

Hopefully have two NSD's however depending on this hangover shifting I may treat myself to a few shandies tonight, only a few though and whichever is on offer!

Going to list up a couple of things on gumtree and someone coming to house to pick up some stuff I sold so extra pennies coming in for the cause!

Currently researching which online surveys are the best to do so hopefully do a couple of those (all suggestions welcome!)

    Take care.
