EE 08 Price Hike - Cancel?

Thanks for all of your replies.
I spoke to EE this morning on the phone and the initial advisor I spoke with seemed not to understand my concerns but did suggest some form of resolution. He suggested that I buy a booster, allowing me 30 minutes for £3 or 60 minutes for £6, each to call 084 and 087 numbers. (As ducky2004 pointed out)
In response to this I said that I would be happy to carry on at the present rate and did not want to pay each month for calls I may not make, and that generally when I do make these types of calls it is unpredictable. He said I can phone each time and ask that the booster be applied retrospectively.
Eventually, after nearly begging, I managed to speak to a supervisor who immediately offered me a 50p per month line rental discount to compensate for the increased call charges, again I was unsatisfied and again he did not understand my reasons for this.
At present I pay 40p per minute to call an 0845 phone number, and after 1st July it will be 44p plus the service charge, so not just a difference of 4p. Several of the other operators are still to disclose how much they will charge however Vodafone are charging 23p so quite a considerable difference.
I then asked to be put through to someone else who may be able to help, and apparently I have no further options except to complain. I asked to be put through to someone to make a complaint but was told that there is nobody I can talk to by phone and that I have to complain using the website. I looked on the website and it said that I have to phone them to make a complaint. There is also a postal address, though, so I will be sending a letter.
Of course I understand that they don't want me to leave because it will cost them a lot of money however the charge they are implementing, particularly when compared to Vodafone, seem extortionate.
I will let you know what happens in the end. I'm still hopeful for a full cancellation as although the numbers are regulated the regulation changes don't state a specific charge. (Thanks Ian011)

What 084 and 087 numbers are you calling?

Charming! 50p would only cover one call to their customer services! That's just ridiculous - how can we tollerate such customer 'service' in this country? They are all taking us to the cleaners...
Did you speak to someone at disconnections/retentions? i.e. did you choose to be put through to the department whereby you'd be able to cancel your contract?0
