Tax credit investigation concentrix

Did my renewal April since had a letter today dated 20th April from concentrix saying they think I'm being overpaid and are doing a full childcare investigation. Only had letter today dates 20th April but it says I have to provide 12 months bank statements childcare proof and invoices receipts etc.
How can they say that thing my payments are wrong?

I was Investigated 2013 which took 14 weeks for the same they helped me work out my estimated average payments as I was overpaid then

I Claim 14 weeks a year two kids go in holidays to clubs ofsted registered but to work out my average costs divided by 52 works out average 52£ a week due to me taking few weeks off in holidays costs are not exact but not far off!
It says that they can charge me 3000£ fine and stop my payments if I don't reply by 5th June.
Luckily I have invoices but can download proof of payments on my bank.
They haven't contacted my childcare as asked the, so why already say my payments are suspected to be wrong!

And anyone else dealt with concentrix before ?

What exactly is the wording on the opening of the letter?

Has your renewal been processed yet?

  • Hi.
No renewal not processed sounds like it won't till this is finalised.

We need to check some details about your tax credits
we are working on behalf of hmrc we are looking at your award ending April 2015. We think your payments are wrong!

We need info from you about childcare charges
  • Tomorrow I will get all my invoices off my work computer and work out the whole years costs and see how far off it is. Shouldn't be that far off I've gone off what they told me to do 2 years ago!!

That does sound a bit like they are jumping the gun as it is unlikely they will have evidence of childcare costs (like they might with an undisclosed partner).

  • So unless they've rang already which I've asked and they haven't they have nothing. The nursery manager said no calls have been made to them.

She is doing me a letter that the kids go there on average so many days a holiday and costs per day ler child.
    Luckily I pay online.

Might be a few pound out cause I managed to take 2 weeks of summer off with them and last week of May but how can you ever be 100% accurate with estimated average costs ? Unless you pre book holidays at be beginning of April for the next 12 months.

Maybe they should pay childcare a different way like after its happened

just thinking, could be the concentrix folks with me as well then. you only got yours today dated 20th of april, mine was allegedly dated 28th of april and i still havent gotten it. that fits.

are they threatening to stop your payments then? sounds like they gave you six weeks, so I am going to assume mine is 12th june then.

but still, they apparently deal with all sorts of investigations so could be not childcare with mine.

does not explain why the helpline woman won't even take my change of address....

clearly there could not possibly be an overpayment in my case, there is an underpayment. but all i know about concentrix in other areas means it will be royally screwed up.
i suppose i dont have to provide 12 month if i had only been claiming tax credits from august, and childcare from october.

IMHO i really dont believe they can fine you a penny if you have not done anything wrong, even if you dont reply.

I have recieved this letter today also regarding childcare charges. After looking into it they are correct, hmrc did not update my daughters new nursery from January , which is £18 a week cheaper. They have not rectified this, however, After going through all my statments aswell I didn't account for the time my childminder Ect was on holiday and thus didn't charge me. This is my first time claiming tax credits and I'm really worried I'm going to be prosecuted. I haven't deliberately mislead them I just did not realise , has anyone else had this situation??

Childcare costs are based on estimated costs and not actual. However the compliance teams sometimes try and use actual costs.

As long as you followed the guidance on estimating costs and kept making sure your 52 week estimates were accurate then it should be fine.

  • I changed my provider last January 2014. However it doesn't name on my award who my provider is. Hopefully they updated this. Cause that would explain why I've been checked if they rang my old nursery!
I'm still paying a registered one and will today type a letter how I estimate my costs with a price list from them.

Also my actual invoices and bank statements.

Creme egg I don't think they can fine you for not updating provider but they will claim the short fall back once they've had all proof.
Been here before but this time it's a different company dealing with my claim
