Kwik Fit Car Breakdown Discussion

Rang them today and after 10 minutes answering irrelevant questions told them about the MSE offer details and it coming to £93 vs £50 MSE quoted and that people had got it when referred to managers etc. No joy, just said £93 is the right price from the computer and can't do anything about it.
Can get a similar policy for £54 on a price comparison site so thats a fail for MSE for duff advice and Kwikfit for not knowing the details :-(0 -
Tried online quote from Kwik Fit. Got the UK full cover including home breadowns etc for £26. Previous cover by Skoda had quoted around £140! Result! It's a 3yr old cr. Maybe they increase cost for older cars.0

".Kwikfit will not allow you to access your Policy details or even provide a breakdown phone number, until the start day of your Policy."
The breakdown number is in the FAQs
"Please call Intana's 24 hour Control on 0333 000 1400. When calling for assistance please quote reference "F11".
You will also need to give your name, address, location and details of your vehicle, including the registration number. "0 -
My breakdown cover was due to auto renew at £84.99, last year it cost £28.85 and guess what it would cost for a new customer this year - £28.55. They rely on you not noticing and I think it is very shabby indeed.
Rather than argue I just asked to lapse the policy and took out a new one on line. I felt so good I missed the £5 credit card surcharge!0 -
I rang Kwik Fit to get breakdown cover as their price was substantially lower than competition. I wanted home, road assist and recovery to home or destination. Although I could have arranged it online, I opted to call the call centre to ensure I had got the right T&C's and was glad I did.
KF cover states that they will attempt to fix the car for the first hour - free of charge - before recovering to a garage for further work. At the garage if they cannot fix by the end of the day they will then offer to recover to either your destination or home. I wanted to know if the car had to be taken to a garage - where I would be liable for any parts or labour in fixing the car - and could I just opt straight away to have the car recovered to home or away. The operator was adamant that it had to wait till end of the day. Having said that she did comment that they were simply selling on another providers offering and that she was simply stating T&C's. So as I see it if you breakdown away from home in the morning they have the right to use the rest of the day - at your cost - to fix the car before offering recovery. Smacks to me of a hidden charge or was she - or me - wrong?0 -
If you breakdown, do they send out a lad with a baseball cap round the wrong way to tell you your shock-absorbers are worn?0

Received my renewal letter this morning for Kwik Fit 'Full UK recovery' costing £84.99, went on website, as a new customer cost would be £27.45, rang them and they price matched website price. Saved £57.54 (68%).0

does anyone know if kwikfit have a free 0800 mobile number for breakdowns. like autoaid et.al?
If like me, you only have payg phones, ringing 03 can cost a bomb if you are kept on hold for a while.
Renewal with Autoaid is due.
I've had Autoaid for years, never needed to use them, but was trying to avoid hassle as OH drives mostly solo(wife), and Kwikfit is cheaper.(a bit)0 -
For the last two years I have used Green Insurance for my breakdown cover. When renewal time came up they would INVITE me to renew.
Last year my premium for Full UK and European cover for an 8 year old car was £78.34.
This year they have been taken over by Kwik Fit. They sent me a renewal notice recently for Recovery Plus with Personal Cover for a premium of £128.77, and mentioned that because they hadn't managed to take an automatic payment (excuse me?) they were putting me onto their "interest free" payment scheme and would contact me in due course for payment details.
It was only when re-read the letter that I noticed the last part, so I telephoned today and cancelled. I had no problem doing this (start date was yesterday), but I think they are underhand converting the policy renewal method like that. I might easily have discarded the Kwik Fit letter without opening, thinking that it was junk mail.
Renewed instead with 2gether for £20 through a Wowcher offer!0
