  • Hello Everyone,

This is my first post on this site. I am wondering if anyone can help me???

I have had a credit card with Natwest since I was 18 that was ten years ago.

I have not been using it that much untill recently and now I have being using it I have notice I am paying repotection payment.

As it was over 10 years ago I can not remember signing upto it or if it was explained or realy anything about it.

With this in mind can I reclaim and if so which part of the template letter would apply to me.

I am thanking you in advance if anyone can help me with this.

    Hi Guys

Need a little help please, I wrote to Egg to claim back my PPI, I stated in the letter that i felt that it was inappropriate and unecessary and the sales amn was pushy etc, 6 weeks later i get the response from them saying i made my application online and that i did not speak to an egg advisor and they do no accept my complaint - I didnt even remember how i did the application lol

I feel that the PPI is absolutely useless to me as for the past year i have been a temporary employee on short term contracts so even if i wanted to make a claim for what ever reason i would not be able to make it. I still want my ppi money back as i have never made a claim and it is useless too me. At the time of application i dont think i fully understood what payment protection was about because i am sure when i obtained some quotes a few months before via phone the adviser blatantly scared me as i was only 18.

Is there anything i can do or shall i just accept that i have another year left of payments and never be able to use the protection. I really want this money back its £2000 ppi of payments that i dont need.

    Help pls

    thanks
  • Hi,

I just received a letter from HSBC and should receive a response in four he weeks??? One week after the recorder letter.
I guess they are taking their time? Are there any other reason than the time to look at my case and see what is going on?
    Will see.
  • We were sold a ppi on a GE bank account, it was lumped on at the front of the loan and totalled £250 for 5yrs cover, which we have only realised that a lot of the policy deals with accidents that are covered by our home insurance. Do we have a case to claim it back as we are a little bit confused???

    Any help guys?
  • Still going on with this one !

(Had secured loan for 11 months with first plus with a PPI of 7K- this is in our current loan that we consilidated and still have with them )

It confusing to know who to go for / take to court here now HELP.

Letter back number 1 - normal fob of response from Bespoke- said they were not regulated at the time and we had all the info etc rubbish.

I sent a letter back asking for a rethink on thier part or I will start court action in 14 days to recover my 4.1 years worth of non used paid up front PPI that was not needed!

letter back number 2 from Bespoke today stating that 'Freedom finance were acting as a processor on behalf of Bespoke' and the complaint lies outside the juristiction of the FOS - complaint not upheld.

I want to start court proceedings this week via small claims as I have done (and won )with my bankcharges so it doesnt frighten me but my question to any readers that may help before I start the process are the following

1 - Do I issue the summons to Bespoke finance as all the corespondence comes from them?( or is it First Plus)

2 Does if matter that they are based in Gibralta as its via small claims court?

Also First plus are 5 days late to their own deadline in repliying to my letter to them with regards to my second loan PPI claim.- I have tried ringing the person on thier direct line all week asking for a progress report and get answerphone everytime!!- should I go straight to FOS with them

    Thanks in adavnce anyone!!

  • Hi, I was just wondering whether anyone is dealing with Black Horse and what they are like. I've seen alot of LTSB customers but I'm unsure whether they are the same company. I've sent off the first letter asking for the ppi premiums back and just waiting for a reply. Is anyone else dealing with them, if so how are you getting on?

Some peace of mind will be much appreciated.
    Thanks.
  • Dear Sir or Madam,
    Re: Account number: KwickFit
    Frasercard
I opened the above accounts with you and I didn’t know Payment Protection Insurance (PPI) was in the policy i now believe that I was mis-sold this policy for the following reason.

This is due to the fact that you have been fined by the FSA for failing to treat your customers fairly when selling Payment Protection Insurance and I do not believe that my policy was sold in my best interests.

Unless you can satisfactorily justify to me that the policy was fair and reasonable I am requesting a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid to date. As I believe I have been deprived of this money I also expect 8% statutory interest, the amount a court would award, to be added to each payment made.

I look forward to a full and prompt response to this letter and for the matter to be concluded with eight weeks or I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.

    Yours faithfully,

    **************************

I write further to our letter dated 30th October 2007. I understand that your complaint is regarding insurance.

Having checked your account details I can confirm that the policy, which was set up on your house of FrasierCard account, which was also cancelled on the 23rd September, is called Account Cover and consists of price, payment and purchase protection. I can confirm this insurance was added to your account on 7th September 2001 after a discussion that took place on the telephone with our telemarketing department.

I can confirm that the policy that is set up on your Kwikfit account is a payment protection policy. This was added on the 27th March 2000 when we received your signed credit agreement and opened your account.

I have considered the points set out in your letter and I have set out below our response to each of the points that you have raised:

I appreciate that due to the recent press coverage regarding insurance regulations and GE Money being fined by the FSA you feel that you may have been mis-sold insurance. The FSA fine, and the associated media coverage however relates to the policies purchased after January 2005 when the FSA’s ICOB regulations came into force. As set out above, I note that your policy’s were set up on the 27 march 2000 and 7th September 2001. As this was prior to January 2005, the FSA’a decision is not relevant, but all complaints alleging that insurance may have been mis-sold are taken seriously and I have therefore fully investigated all aspects of your complaint.

I note that you say that the policy was not sold in your best interest. However, once a customer has decided to take the product, a policy summary and policy document is mailed to the customer for their review. We also offer a 30-day no-quibble guarantee where the product maybe cancelled, and any premiums refunded (subject to no claim being made). This allows time to compare the policy to that of any other insurance companies. I would also advise that the process that we had in place was to make clear that it was not compulsory. I can confirm that on the agreement you signed for your KwikFit account, it asked you to sign if you required the Account Cover, which you did. Therefore, it appears that it was made clear that the policy was optional and that you elected to take out the insurance.

Since you have had these policies, they have been clearly shown on your statements when a balance has been outstanding, and could have been cancelled or a claim made at any time. I can also advise that the Account Cover policy on your FrasierCard was upgraded in March 2003 and the Payment Protection policy on your KwikFit account was upgraded in December 2001. At these times, a brand new set of Terms and Conditions would have been sent. In light of this and in light of the above comments I cannot find any evidence of mis-selling and I am therefore unable to refund the premiums applied to your accounts.

I trust that I have addressed all the concerns you have raised. If you remain dissatisfied with our response you may refer the complaint to the finance and leasing Association. To do this you must refer the matter within 6 months from the date of this letter. I have provided their contact details below.

    • When I opened the account It was sold through the dealers and I must admit it was my fault for not reading the small print, I was just told to sign their and their. It was not discussed with me and they did not talk through my circumstances 'nor what any insurance was to be added.
    • I was also in full time employment with the NHS and I would have been paid full pay for 6 months and half pay for 6 months if on the sick.
    • I don’t remember upgrading the accounts at all, and when I did find out about it I tried to stop them several times at the store but was told I couldn’t do this, but eventually i did mange to cancel them.

    Has anyone got any suggestion???
  • hello

my husband has asthma.... that is classed as a pre existing medical condtion, and if he died of an attack or off work... i wouldn't get a pay out would i???
  • hi scottrobson

just read the bottom where they have stated to go to the financial leasing authority, don't!!! ppi comes under the fos jurdriscriction (sp) i rang the fos after getting a fob off from my company...

is it worth asking for copies of this telephone call?? if they can't provide you with evidence, its time to take it to the financial ombudsman service!
