Could anyone provide any much needed advice regarding my situation? I would like to write to Natwest regarding a possible refund but would like to know that I'm in the right first! Also, as I still bank with Natwest and have my personal loan with them, is there a risk of them asking me to leave them if I do ask for a refund?

    Thank you for any advice.

Hi there I like you am trying to reclaim PPI from my bank HSBC, as I feel that they missold me this due to my contracted hours of work being only 10 when they shoud have been 16 hours in order to qualify for PPI, I say go for it, although please I am no expert and could not say what the outcome will be as I don't no regarding my own situation. It seems though that NatWest seem to be ok at this from what I have read on this site, after all you are only asking if it is a no carry on as normal or take it further. This is my advice only I have no qualifications in this area. Hope I have been of help.
Claimed back almost £4000 so far from HSBC for mis-sold PPI
£2083.00 + £242.00 8% interest from FirstPlus and lower monthly premiums:D Studio Cards paid off my account and gave me £125.00 in gift vouchers. £500.00 Barclays.
  • What were you reclaiming: Credit Protection Insurance on an HSBC Loan taken out in 2002
    Who was the provider: HSBC
How much did you get back: £7136!!!!!
Did you get it back after a letter or did you go to the Financial Ombudsman: Just two letters; one asking for the terms and conditions of the loan and PPI and then one claiming the money back.
And then write your brief reclaim tale: HSBC stated that they could not disprove our claim. As an added bonus for us, they gave us two choices with the resulting refund; we could either restructure the remaining balance of the loan (removing the PPI payments) and have a cheque for £7135+, or they would use the money to pay the laon off in full. We checked with the local branch and got a redemption figure of just short of £9000. Obviously we took the second option, gaining £500+ per month from no longer having to pay the loan repayments and also got more out of the bank than the original £7136

This has given me hope I am going to fight. Thank you.

  • When I have been off work recovering from heart attacks (had a few unfortunately) the PPI on a Halifax loan and on my MBNA credit card both paid up without a murmer.
In fact, as my employer continued to pay me I made a profit... (not a way I would suggest tho)

Now I don't have a loan or credit cards I think I'd be a bit naughty going back through my records to claim back PPI.

I'm not getting at anyone who has claimed back, but there are two sides to every story.

Your stories have convinced me to dig out my husband's old credit card bills (hopefully he's still got them!) and try reclaiming the PPI he had via a Lloyds TSB card account in 1999-2002.

When he eventually cancelled it, the call centre person kindly informed him that they would never have paid out on it, because he wasn't a UK resident! (was a Kiwi on a working holiday visa for most of that time)

I don't know why he didn't try reclaiming at the time, but better late than never :)

  • HI.....took out a loan with LTSB March 2003 for £10000 plus ppi £2209 total £12209 I told them that I would be covered through my employer, their reply, as I am partime it would be better if I had extra insurance to enable me to get the finance!!! November 03 said that they could refinance me with a better deal eg lower monthly rate sounds good, but they would have to add another £2934 to the loan same reason as before. So now I have two lots of PPI on a £10000 loan plus interest.

Used template to complain, response they rang to tell me they were rejecting my complaint and then received a letter saying I signed all relevent documents therefore I have no reason for complaint. Now in the process responding to their letter asking for them to look at it again.

I am determined and full of fighting spirit............
  • Hi
    can anyone help?
I sent the template off to First Plus and got a letter back from Central Trust saying the following:
'The sale of general insurance did not come under the remit of the Financial Services Authority until 14th Jan 2005 - any sales prior to this date are known as pre-regulation and are not applied retrospectively. My loan application was finalised on 11th Jan and therefore they are saying there was no regulatory requirement at the time to verbally disclose benefits, exclusions or features of PPI'. They have told me I can take my case to the FOS but my complaint will be out of their jurisdiction because of the timescale.
Has anyone else received a similar response and if so, did you just let it go or fight on?
    cheers

I am trying the same thing, my loan was broked in June 2005, and I have been in contact with Central Capital, who are avoiding my phone calls and not being at all helpful.
