Just wanted to know if this sounds ok to you before I send it its not word for word just a general overview

I have stated our complaint ref and details of the loan including PPI

explaining we did not know the PPI was optional or that we were not advised of taking out PPI on a monthly basis instead of the single premium or could take PPI with another insurance company.

said we were reviewing our finances in sept 07 we were surprised at the settlement figure stating figures that the original PPI was 17143.00 the rebate was 3949.36 + approx 12 monthly instalments on average 150.00 so for one years insurance it had cost us 14994.64.

then I stated the the mis representation act.
then I finished off with saying we had settled the loan but the final response from their complains dept said it was not missold

saying we think the single premium they offer is not fit for purpose as we had taken the loan out over 25 years but the PPI only covered it for 5 years also it was not made clear to us that we would be paying the PPI over the full term of the loan.

also saying regrettably we have had to refer it to FOS as the complaints dept can no longer enter into any further correspondence

the ending is the most difficult as I dont know how to word it.
    Here goes

we would like you to review our complaint of missold and also this would include reviewing the rebate we recieved on the settlement we paid.
we hope you can resolve this situation

we look forward to hearing from you in the near future.

what do you think -anybody is welcome to comment

I am going to bed now as I have writers cramp!!

    thanks in advance

Hi laini when I emailed him i kept it short and to the point said i was very dissapointed in the way the complaint had been handled and felt i was being bullied in to accepting the rebate on there terms only i asked for his assistance to put the matter to a close... I got the full refund of my policy direct to me i didnt haggle for the 8% i felt i had pushed enough and was happy to get what i got i must say if i hadnt emailed the Md it would still be with the FOS dont know what made me do it but hey it worked!!!! good luck with your complaint
Have they not offerred a 78% enhanced rebate????

    no they havent.
Our only complaint at the beginning was missold because when we were looking at other lenders when we were reviewing our finances (cos it seemed like the payments were going up on a monthly basis and we were getting to the point were we couldnt afford it) and watching the Tonight programme we said we didnt realise it was optional or you could use another company for PPI but when we got the settlement figure we were not happy with the rebate.
we had already set up with another lender at the time to pay them off and we were accruing a lot of interest on our mortgage stalling the go ahead on our new loan just incase we didnt need to borrow as much to pay it off plus we didnt want to mess the new lender around and it fall through so whilst we were waiting for a better result from first Plus we had to accept the settlement figure and told them we were still persuing our complaint and would be going to FOS about the mis sold issue and rebate.

    does this make sense.

I just want it over with now, we are not greedy but really think we were conned out of money we didnt need to borrow for PPI:rolleyes:

PS thanks for your feedback and advice its much appreciated.

Just got reply back from FIRST PLUS MD he said he could not help as it is now with FOS as they have to follow set procedures.
however if I need to contact First Plus I have to contact head of Complaints and gave me their name.He wasnt snotting or offhand it seemed friendly and personal.
I felt like I should not have sent it but then I thought well other people have.
    GUTTED!!
Just have to wait for FOS now
this feels like a bad ending to a bad day.
It may be he has decided not to get involved with any more complaints.
