  • Hi Guys.
I sent a letter to Egg around a month ago over some mis sold PPI on a loan I took out 3 years ago for £5000. They added PPI even after I explicitly told them that my company offers assistance if I fail to meet payments. It was only after Martins article that I realised I had PPI.
In fairness, Egg were extremely prompt in getting back to me and replied 2 days later stating
" Egg are sorry about your complaint and will look into it and get back to you"
Has anyone tried to claim from Egg before? Did they get a similar response? How long did it take them to get back to you with a resolution?
My main question is however, how long should I allow them to 'look into the issue'? My concern is that they are paying me lip service to passify me without actually looking. However, I don't want to get on their back too soon and get their backs up. So, how long is a good time to wait and what should I put into my next letter? Should I threaten them with the FSA?
    Thanks for the help folks!

    Hi,

I am hoping someone can advise me if I have a case for PPI reclaim?

I took out a virgin card approx 2 years ago for a low rate balance transfer offer, when I completed the application on line i did nit ask for PPI as I never take this out on any card or loans that I get as I have life insurance and critical illness cover so do not feel it is necessary.

However when I was reading this article I checked all my credit cards and low and behold find that I have been getting charged approx £30 per month for PPI on a balance of £4000.

I have never noticed this before now and I am sure i would never of requested it or if I did I was mis sold the product.

Is this grounds for a reclaim and should I cancel my PPI now or send them a letter from the template to ask for a reclaim and cancel at the same times?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    Kerry :D

    Hi,

Can anyone help me out with my question?

    Thanks ;)
  • Well, I have been down the route of claiming bank charges, bank defended and I am stuck in the court system til next April pending High Court Case. So I decided to tackle the PPI on loans I had out 6 years ago where I was sold PPI when self employed. I sent the template letter (THANK YOU Martin and staff) with details and I heard by phone today that the bank will be sending me an offer letter by the end of the week.

It was a really simple process, much simpler than claiming bank charges. The bank have held their hands up and said yes they shouldnt have sold it to me.

I will post again, when I have actually had the money!

All I can say is a big thank you to all MSE staff who dedicate their time and effort to setting up the information and template letters to help people like me. :T I remember at the time back in 2001 seeing the clause afterwards "not suitable for the self employed" but didnt dare challenge it. This site should give everyone confidence to tackle their banks.

Thank you so much to MSE!:j

I read through all your artical on the PPI, I took out an Egg loan in 2002, I took out the PPI as a matter of course trying to be careful for that "just in case" I was not asked about any medical conditions.

my contract of employment was terminated due to medical grounds in August 2003 after 2 failed operations one nearly resulting in my death! I submitted a claim to Egg under my PPI as I was unfit to work.

After 12 months of fighting with them, I eventually got a letter stating that because I had suffered post natal depression in 1997, they could not pay my loan or credit card.

They said that because I had suffered PTSD and depression after having anaphlactic shock during an operation ( which was one of the reasons for me not being able to return to work) that it was classed as me claiming for a pre exsisting medical condition.

I argued the case with them that post natal depression after having a child was quite normal, and that the depression I was suffering now was nothing to do with being Post Natal!!! they still refused the claim.

As a result, I could not keep up the repayments and the loan and credit card have been passed over to Moorcroft Debt Recovery! I wasn't just mis-sold a PPI, I have been credit blacklisted for it!

I'll let you know how I get on!! fingers crossed
:) If you like what I say please say thanks :)

    Hi

I have just done my letter to Egg one for a card one for a loan, the template I used from here says
" I look forward to a full and prompt response to this letter and for the matter to be concluded with in eight weeks, or I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint"

    Hope that helps you
    Sam

  • Hello

I am looking for advice. My husband has a credit card with Halifax. When he took it out he was advised to take out Insurance as well in case he took sick, which he did in March/April this year. When he made a claim they refused to pay out due to pre-existing conditions, though the condition he was claiming for was not mentioned when taking out the policy. He has made claims with two other Companies who have paid out with no problem. The Halifax have now issued a Formal Notice and cancelled his insurance because he is unable to make any repayments because he is on Invalidity Benefit and has no money. What should he do now?
  • I phoned the Window Installation Firm again as i hadn't received a call or letter and was told that one was in the post informing me that the matter was now with the "compliance officer"....well that should delay matters again no doubt....this has been going on since March.

One thing that was mentioned was that I was only complaining about this matter after 9 YEARS of the policy to which I stated that the issue of PPI misselling had only recently come to my attention through penalty charging forum and so I couldn't have been aware previously and that using the criteria for misselling ie the loan was automatically added AND as a lump sum and I hadn't needed it due to being in regular employment with an employer with generous sickness redundancy etc cover and therefore didn't need or want it.

I also mentioned that according to my records and the credit agreement from GEMoney I had not signed the box...In fact there is my partners signature and my name printed (perhaps where I was supposed to sign???)

I am feeling very frustrated with the whole issue and especially the time limit (6 years) Should this be from when it was found to be an issue?

I am still paying for this loan and PPI which was only in place for half of the loan term and what was £5000 or so is now £13,000??????We paid dearly for our (and their) mistake If only we had been a bit more financially aware at the time...I would have run a mile!!!

I'm taking some time this week to get deal with this again. I've spent so many hours of time and been pushed around. Anglian windows DID NOT send a letter ( "there's one in the post") neither did the compliance officer....Oh what a surprise??

Please can someone confirm that Anglian Windows are the company that i should be writing to. I know their salesman did the paper work but surely GE Money have made the profit (and still are as I am still paying the loan)

As I obviously do not have an easy case (having been in circles with GE Money/ Ombudsman/Financial & Leasing authority and Anglian all passing the buck) I have considered going to one of those specialist companies that off a PPI reclaim service .

Has anyone done this before and what is a reasonable charge? 25% Plus VAT does not sound fair....

I was told when i took out muy car credit that i could only have credit if I took out the payment protection plan.

I was made unemplyed a year ago and when I called after the 3 month unemployment period that the policy states I was told that my plan doesnt cover unemployment, which I was unaware of.....I do not see much point in having the protection if it does not protect me from unemployment, so as well as the £94 per month for he credit I have been pay a extra £14 per month for protection

which totals amount of £109 per month which has been paid in full the whole time i have been unemployed.

am able to claim the last 2 years protection back and if not can i cancel the ppp??
