Parcelforce Appeal

Hi everyone!

I sent a wristwatch worth £800 to Singapore from a post office in London by using Pareclforce Global Express and extended insurance & paid £90. After two weeks the item came back to me with a sticker affixed on it "incorrect address". When I opened the package then the wristwatch was missing and it had screwdriver in it. I was shocked so immediately I reported this to police and filed a complaint. I made claim on Parcelforce's website & explained the whole situation. After few days, parcelforce sent me an email to upload the Proof of postage with CP72, and original receipts of the wristwatch which I scanned & uploaded on same day.
Today, I received another email from them that my claim is close and status is showing Appeal (I didn't appeal, it was automatically showing "Appeal"). I made phone call to them and they have told me that I have used wrong service for this type of content i.e. Global express service is not for items like wristwatch. And it is Royal Mail/Post office's mistake to use the wrong service ergo now post office will tell to parcelforce within 2 weeks about the outcome. If I have used online service or self checkout at post office then it's my (customer's) mistake.
I told them that I didn't know about it at all. I simply went at local post office which doesn't have self checkout and then I handed over the package to post office's staff member who asked me about the content and value of it which I told exactly what's inside to the staff member of Post Office. I also asked to Parcelforce's staff member on phone that I paid £90 for less than half kg package for a secure service & if the service was wrong for the content then it's clearly not my mistake.

Should I consider that I will never ever receive a penny from parcelforce?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards,
Chris

Did you sign anything upon shipping?

You should have had to sign the shipping paperwork - did you?

The package wasn't received by anyone in Singapore because of the incorrect address (that's a different story that the address was correct) . When the package came back at my address in London then I signed it personally and received it.

no no, when you shipped it, in the post office, did you sign anything? And what you signed, was it Royal Mail paperwork or was it Parcelforce paperwork?

If your "claim is close" then why not wait for them to consider it?

Yeah I signed and filled the the custom form CP72 form. I have the original copy of it with me with proof of payment which contains tracking number, weight etc.

Also the package's original weight was 0.531kg which is written on receipt but when I received the package back it had 0.350kg weight.

It says on their website that case closed 13-05-2015, Status: Appeal.

NB. I didn't appeal. On the phone the staff member of parcelforce said that they have asked for explanation from Royal Mail that why they have used the wrong service for wristwatch. Therefore the status is now Appeal.

The payment receipt, and the tracking number receipt are printed on post office's generic receipt paper. I paid through my credit card. Yes, I signed myself the CP72 form and other forms.

Ah... so you are now telling us that the case is closed.

Just a tip... if you are seeking advice from anyone, not just this forum, it is important to ask the right questions.
  • On the custom declaration form aka CP72 form I clearly wrote Watch and its value with my own hand. They use three carbon copies of that form, one to put on the package, one for their own record, and one for customer. And I have the customer copy of that form which says watch and its price along with all necessary proofs of postage.
