Some companies asked for our address, but we never ever gave them that or our names.

That's a very good point. It only takes one of these to 'associate' your address with the non-payer to mess up your credit record.

I would get in touch with Virgin and ask for the number to be changed.

When we first moved into our house 20 years ago we were plagued with calls to an Escort agency:eek: and some were very abusive when I told them that this was a private number :mad: so we contacted BT and went ex directory.

We changed to Sky last year and just before Christmas we got a phone call from VERY asking for someone and I told them that there was no one here of that name, they put me through to a lovely man in their fraud department and he told me that they had cancelled this persons account because our address did not tally with the details they had.

    It is really annoying

I've had the same thing with my mobile number, always looking for "Jeff" or "Geoff". Me, being an almost-30 year old female, they tend to believe me when I say that I'm not him. The automated PPI calls are getting annoying though.

Never had any problems such as this until I got my missus and son a mobile contract with Virgin, and my LL is with Virgin and since then we have had dozens of PPI, injury claim calls. Obviously Virgin sell their customer lists as there is no other explanation.

Best to ask for a new number

And end up with the same issue with the next recycled number?

Get a call blocker. We've had one for a while now, it's been a godsend.

Every time, they ask for a man called Mohammed, and I tell them there is no Mohammed at our address. They insist there is, I say there isn't,

Stop being an infidel and just agree with them that Mohammed is everywhere, just like Jesus.
