(Don't worry though - I do wonder, very carefully, whether it's appropriate still to post money-saving posts and some that seem to be expressing joy in the money-saving finds at a time like this. I've even, in the past, come to the thread, seen it's in the middle of some sad news for something and then I've gone away and posted my post a day later instead. I don't know what to say:o:o - I never get involved, for fear of saying the wrong thing and making matters worse. So, I just retreat and say nothing at all and then people wrongly assume I don't care. In RL though, I've always taken a back seat, got out of the way and let other people deal with upset people as they just know how to whereas I never do:o! They do it so much better...best people to deal with the situation:cool:.)

I believe it is better to send condolences via a card etc, rather than fill a florists bank account. Better to use money you would have spent on either giving to the family or a charity specified by them. We requested donations to charity when my mother passed away from dementia a few years ago.
Hope I do not offend anyone with this comment.
I'm with you there.Apparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

No pressure on anyone at all.
I have set up a just giving page in PM memory. I think she'd like money to go towards what she cared about. there's no pressure AT ALL to donate but those who want to can.
I dont want to let her pass without being remembered

I can understand that - we had one of my relatives pass away several years back and the closer family didn't want lots and lots of flowers arriving - they already had enough so a donation was more appropriate. I think they requested a charity for the illness that the person had suffered.
Commenting "with respect" though:eek::rotfl::rotfl:. You know that, if people say "with respect", they mean that the last thing they intend is their respect.:rotfl:
But I knew that you didn't mean it like that! You're quite right - I support what you've said for the reasons we've given. I'd go with whatever the family want, if we know.0 -
I think what you have said shows how you/others can deal with this awful thing called depression, until you have dealings with something personally you cant comprehend what someone is going through, its not a case of 'pull up your socks' and it will be fine, it isn't- people find their own levels and can usually cope with the periods of down times,... but unfortunately the down times and darkness are like a black hole that sometimes you cant get out of with no matter how much help and support that is given tragedy strikes:(
Suicide is never the answer. They always ask that question at screening processes - and I tend to think it puts ideas into vulnerable people's minds that weren't there before - but I always said, truthfully, no, I've never had suicidal thoughts. It's not something I would ever contemplate. Whether you have or have not, it's not the answer - there are lots of friends here and nothing can ever be worth that drastic step. However dark things sometimes seem, things in life will improve and get better.:)0 -

Dark thigs do indeed invade or lives
I've lost my whole future to someone's dark thoughts. I cannot compete with themso I am living life without those thoughts in it.
