I used my iron a few times a week to iron shirts for going out in. So:
Ironing clothes - it's the new sandwich toaster
The majority of halls and first year residences actually supply irons; so no need to bring one!0 -

Sometimes it's good having your own stuff to use when you want it.0 -
Alka-seltzer or Andrews salts are handy to have, bit icky but wonderful for getting rid of the upset stomach the day after a heavy night of drinking!
Other advice is sound, if it's not on the list already a pizza cutter is very handy0 -
To be honest I'd recommend taking everything you need to make your room feel like home but not too much of the kitchen stuff - when I started uni I completely kitted myself out with toaster, kettle, iron etc but so did all my housemates so we ended up with loads of surplus electrical stuff lying around the house. In hindsight its probably best to leave as much 'communal' stuff until you get there are figure out what your housemates have brought.
Things I would recomend taking are cups, plates and cutlery (much easier to have your own and avoid washing up arguments), toilet roll (keep a private stash under your bed for emergencies!) and a bottle of something to break the ice with your housemates when you get there.0 -
pizza cutters are useless - buy a big pair of kitchen scissors insteadHi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

i agree with this comment - i only took 2, but found i wanted a clean towel a lot more often than i could do my washing! and it really helps for my mum to buy my toiletries - only realised recently that she was probably doing it to get boots points as well:rotfl:0
