Currently got an Android smartphone and I am looking to move into world of iOS and iPhone 5 (maybe even a iPhone 4, not sure).

What would be a good price for a 2nd hand iPhone on Ebay with cable, box etc? They seem to vary largely in price

Can anyone recommend a good retailer that does them reconditioned? It would be nice to get a 2nd hand phone, but brand new case (feels new)

Can't understand why anyone would want to downgrade to Apple, but there you go :D

I think there's a company called 'hot bargain phones' on eBay - try there??

Be very careful when buying second hand phones. If you MUST buy from EBay ensure you go through EBay and PayPal in case you end up with a blacklisted phone. This happened me last week my new phone stopped working with no service in the status. I went to Vodafone shop and they input the IMEI number on the system and there it was on the blacklist.
    Be careful.

be warned if you buy a second hand phone then it may be reported as stolen by seller to claim on insurance and be blacklisted.

I have a Moto G 2nd gen, which is amazing phone. Need iPhone for an app project I am doing. So just hoping to get one around the £100-£120 mark.

Hopefully buying boxed will avoid the stolen/IMEI issue, but noted - thanks.

would not pay more than 130-140 which is what they go for on gumtree /hotukdeals. Can do a phone check for 1.99 (checkmend) to see if it has been stolen etc

That's what I thought. My phone arrived sealed in a box. The problem is the IMEI number is printed on the OUTSIDE of the box, so a scammer can note it down then report it stolen at a later date.

You can but that's a point in time. Reports are the crooked seller will wait 90 days after a sale so PayPal/Ebay claim window expires then reports it stolen. You will be unlikely to get a bar lifted as your not the original owner.

It may cost more but somewhere that has a shop (CEX maybe) will give you more assurance that the phone will keep working after 3 months.

Didn't think stolen/lost iPhones were such a big problem. As I stated, I think buying boxed eliminates alot of stolen/lost risk

Your right, its about minimizing the risk, so that means a way to trace back the owner, or a way to claim in the event of a issue later on, a boxed phone could be stolen (or reported as such) but yes its a lower risk (doubt anyone would be daft enough to buy a lose mobile and charge from a bloke in a pub anymore, but you never know)

Its your money and your choice, all we can do is help advise you.
