Sorry, the second one was bought two weeks ago the first one two weeks before that.

I still have both bags and was going to take them in tomorrow and let them have a look at the colour difference themselves and the printed batch number showing limestone in a jasmine bag.

But surely it's your kitchen, so you should know what you're buying.

    http://www.toppstiles.co.uk/tprod44757/section173/topps-tiles-flexible-grout-plus-jasmine-3kg.html

    One lists materials as:

Porcelain, Marble, Limestone, Granite, Glass, Ceramic, Mosaic, Travertine, Slate

    The other:

    Porcelain, Natural Stone, Ceramic

It doesn't matter if the bags look the same, or they state Jasmine as a colour, if the barcodes are different than it's a different product and as sorry as I am to say, You were not vigilant enough. Don't assume something is the same based on looks.

Jasmine is just the colour, of which there are several varieties of grout in jasmine colour based on different specifications.

You are missing the point. They were BOTH the 3kg Topps Tiles own brand of jasmine. ie exactly the same packaging as in picking up two bags of crisps of the same type same flavour same manufacturer - you dont expect them to put the wrong flavour in that bag.

I dont understand what I have made unclear.

Say i had bought them at the same time and not one week apart - i went to the same shop, the same shelf, got the same bag, the same size, the same brand, the same cost and THEY have incorrectly put limestone colour in a jasmine colour bag.

That is my point. Its the completely wrong colour grout in the wrong bag.

But Jasmine is a colour, Limestone can be a material and colour.

I do believe you are mistaken, Same bag design, same brand, same colour, same manufacturer, it doesn't matter.

There is no law stating a product can't look similar.

Check the barcodes, if they're different, then they're different products.

Everything is the same - the bar code that the store would scan, the packaging, everything.

The one difference is the printed bit that they have added down the side over the packaging (which is hard to find unless looking for it) shows the code along with numbers as JASMINE on one and LIMESTONE on the other. This means that the contents of the two bags are completely different.

I am unsure what is confusing about what I am writing.

It is just the same as if one bag was jasmine colour and one was white, they would both be different but in the same packaging. Not my fault its packaged wrong but obviously the difference between white and jasmine would have been noticeable at the time the difference between the two were not noticeable as the bags were used at different times but as they are both the same bag the colour should surely be the same not completely different.

    Anyway I give up.

Its clearly my mistake that Topps Tiles have put the wrong grout in the wrong bag and even though everything inc bar code was the same.

    Admin you can close thread.

Are the batch numbers the same?

We tiled the hallway floor a few weeks ago and initially bought 2 bags of grout (we usually always overestimate what we need and buy extra but didn't this time) we needed a third bag to finish the job so we bought a third bag of exactly the same grout, same bag, same colour, same barcode but different batch number and it was a shade lighter than the original two bags.

This is why all things like this have batch numbers for you to buy them at the same time to ensure consistency. You get it with tiles, wallpaper, paint, grout and probably many more.

I just looked and Limestone isn't even a colour option for their own brand grout so it must be an ingredient and not the wrong colour.

I have been to the store, they have checked all of their bags and every single one has the JASM in the batch number so they have no idea how this one has LIME in the batch number.

They have compared the two and agree with me there is definitely a major colour difference.

They believe it is a manufacturer error and will report the fault up the chain. They have also agreed that as it only affects the top row of one section of wall which is about 10 tiles they will make arrangements for someone to come out next week and redo the grout.

I am glad they didnt accuse me of being incorrect because short of opening the bag in store there isnt a lot else I could do.

    This can now be closed.
