Caravan Living!
I already have a thread running re the base for a caravan so thought I would ask for some hints & tips for living in a 2 berth tourer caravan whilst our house is repaired.
We will be in there over the Winter and have never stopped in a caravan before!
I am interested in how to actually connect the caravan up to our mains water and electricity (we will buy a gas bottle).
Is it worth buying an awning (will it survive the Winter?)
How to keep condensation down and keep the caravan warm.
Any other hints and tips would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

You should be able to get a mains adapter for electric hookup, but you're probably stuck with bottled water.
An awning will give you a lot more space, but it'll be cold in winter. Do you have any other storage available?0 -

No more storage. Wondering where we are going to put the washing machine!
Can we not hook up to mains water? And the manhole for the toilet?0 -
Mains water is pressurised. Caravan plumbing isn't designed to be under constant pressure - the pump is turned on when you open the tap.
As far as electricity goes, just plug the hook-up into your power from the house.
If you go for an awning, you might well have fun and games if it gets stormy - don't forget it's basically a tent. A shed might be a better bet.0 -
When we built our house we bought a cheap static and a container. Ran an electric supply (probably illegally) and a water supply. Container had the freezer and the washing machine in it.
You might be suicidal and/or murderous after 6+ months in a static, it won't be fun.0 -

How much did you pay for your container?
We are going to be in a small 2 berth tourer with a shower over the toilet - I can imagine it is going to get pretty murderous!!!
How did you run the water supply?
I'm worried about having a shower/washing up/toilet flushing etc as this will be our only bathroom!0 -
Water from the mains, you can get kits that fit onto your aqua roll

I've never seen a solution for a cassette toilet though.
Waste Water, long pipe to your drains should be ok.0 -

You sound like you know our stuff.
I already have a thread running but do you think it will be okay on concrete slabs?
Thank you0 -
Can you throw up a garage/shed and give it a power feed? Or find our nearest laundrette.
Think we will purchase a shed good idea.
I have been looking at the 6-10ft containers that people use for self-builds but they seem extortionate!.
How much should I expect to pay for a standard awning? It's more for kicking shoes off.
Also, can anyone recommend a really good lock? Another worry is how easily it can be broken into.0
