Council Tax Overpayment To Self Employed Non-Dependant

I was flabbergasted by your reply "Get a job". There are NO jobs in this area, the North West. This is the main reason why I was forced into self employment. If there were plenty of jobs here, I would have had a job by now. Not every part of the country is doing well in Cameron's wonderful "jobs booming" (laughs out loud).
And if you still doubt my comments, then I'd suggest you come down here to Merseyside and spend a some time trying to find a job in the face of HUNDREDS of applicants chasing what few jobs there are.
The unemployment rate in Merseyside is around 7%, so 93% of economically active people are able to find work. Rather than moaning that there is no work available, you need to focus on why you're part of the 7%.0 -

And with going back on JSA would come the inevitable feelings of misery, worthlessness, fear of being sanctioned etc. etc. Need I go on?
I am determined to make my writing business succeed. Remember, I have only been in business barely two years. So, yes, I AM better working for myself than going back to the soul-destroying ritual of signing on every fortnight.0 -

Oh come ON. Have you really drilled down to see the exact nature of these "jobs". Many require specialist experience, are sales-target oriented etc. etc. A lot are also poorly paid, zero hour contracts.
Need I go on????0 -

Two years and not even making fifty quid a week ...0 -

Where on earth are you getting your questionable figures from? Have you ever lived on Merseyside? Have you ever even BEEN to Merseyside? And if the picture here is as rosy as you think, then answer me this: how come there are still over ONE HUNDRED people chasing each vacancy?? Just go on to REED website and see just how many others have applied for each job.0 -

I have several friends there, ranging from shop workers to researchers to property developers. All make sufficient income to be self sufficient.
What makes you any different to them?0 -

I looked at the first 20, at least 10 wouldn't require any specialist skills and aren't sales orientated. The were mainly fast food, pubs, admin etc.
You say they are poorly paid but yet you only earn £190 per month currently. You'd only need to be employed 7 hours per week to make that.
What would be wrong with a zero hour contract and still continue with your self employment?
Look, I have applied for ALL of those kinds of jobs. I am damn well lucky if I even get a reply. It is NOT as easy as you seem to think, you know.
Anyway, I am not arguing anymore, as it's pointless when you get narrow minded, totally misguided people like this who seem to think that everything in the Mersey jobs market is rosy (lol).0 -

So you don't think your attitude might be part of the problem?0 -
