That mushroom stroganoff is another case in point that some hotels/restaurants just don't seem to have clicked that a meal needs the "appropriate" accompaniments and that often means something different to what the meat-eaters are having with their meal.

Newsflash for hotels = mushroom stroganoff gets served with rice. I thought everyone knew that....

Me - if I were serving it up to someone in my home - there would be the expected rice with it and I would also have some salad in a side bowl for them (before or beside the stroganoff) and nice bread for people to help themselves to on the table.

It equally likely gets served with pasta, or even fried potatoes depending where you eat it and what tradition one follows. In our home stroganoff is not served with rice and that's not 'incorrect' even if its not what some might have come to expect.
