Ally That was a fantastic price for celebrating your civil partnership, especially as it included the honeymoon. When we are nearly DF/MF we will need to have a similar conversation, many years from now. OH likes the idea of savings et c but he also enjoys spending moneyWe will both need to compromise as well as setting goals and continuing to monitor spends so any bad habits can be nipped in the bud. Any other tips would be appreciated.
We started by working out what our "surplus" cash would be each month. Then we got as far as making a huge wishlist of ideas:
:starmod: Stuff we probably should buy: i.e. a new kettle because ours leaks!
:starmod: A holiday we'd like to have.
:starmod: A whole list of about 30 things we want but probably don't need. We'll probably buy four or five of them.
:starmod: How we'll slightly increase our food budget so that we can eat more healthily and more locally.
:starmod: Big discussion on how frugal we want to be in future. What small economies we'll no longer bother with and which ones we will. Some things take up a lot of time for the sake of saving pennies and we've decided to cull these ideas for the sake of spending more leisure time together.
We should also have discussed responsible uses for the money like savings but we didn't, yet. Though, OH has said she doesn't want to buy a second car which is a flippin' relief because cars eat money!
Then we decided what two things we'd like to spend our spare cash on first: A night away as a second honeymoon up in Oban costing no more than £150 all in and a £25 photography course for my OH via Groupon as she hopes that photography might bring us an income in the future. These two are definitely going ahead and I'm certain we can actually get a night away for a lot less if we get a late deal.
But, for all that talk, we'll probably need another fifty conferences before we can properly decide. :rotfl:

Ah now you have made me really hungry & really keen to go back to Turkey. I don't know about other people but I always want to revisit the places I have been, but somehow rarely do. I really hope Kas isn't spoilt now. I think the fact it was roughly 3 hours transfer on a bus from Antalya kept it somewhat unspoilt. Although the next place along Kalkan was very English. Not sure why one place kept it's ID but the other didn't.
Off to work soon. Predicting either super busy or dead as a door nail.
Bye for now.
Bob
The girl at work revisited about 5 years ago and said it had changed enormously compared to when she was there 20 years ago. The same is true of Olu Deniz but it is still a very special place. New bars have sprung up along the beach but the seating is all on big bean bags that can be put away at the end of the night. It's a tough one, isn't it? The locals live a very meagre existence so, when they have an opportunity to build an industry that brings in visitors and cash you can't expect them to keep it the same because we want to visit there once a year (I wish it were that often!) and want it to remain the same. We just have to hope that it is developed sympathetically.Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
FVD -that is a very good point. Another place we went and have seen the horror of overdevelopment in is Sharm in Egypt. We dive so went for courses and the fantastic national park, wrecks etc. It was never a lovely small place anyway very much a Vegas type affair but my goodness having returned a couple of years later it was hideous. The reef near shore was ruined beyond belief and the strip was just hotel after hotel and still more being built. I wouldn't go there now. But I doubt I am the target market any how." Today I am on a clean up mission!! Doing a 10-min challenge - 10 mins in every room to begin with - 90 mins around the house and then start on the places that need 2 rounds!! Wish me luck!!
Money-makings wise... I've written out a list of money-making ideas and going to review this later when I've got a nice clean house!!
OH is working today - 3 clients :T Which is a blessing considering that's how many he used to get a week :T
Catch up soon!
La E check out konMari method for clearing.
OMG just discovered it last night/today and have alredy cleared and sorted my larder - room of hellishness most of the time. Now can walk in, see what foods are where on shelves, produce stored logically on separate shelves (i.e. tins, snacks, rice & pasta, bread items, baking items, drinks) cleaning products all stored and organised in one place. Sorted out kitchen cupboards (except pan cupboard for some reason, and 3 high cupboards).
Have also sorted out my underwear & pyjamas' drawers :T Have a couple of boxes for CS in car ready to drop off tomorrow. Think I will sort out my tops as well :T Party hard at my house

Afternoon all
Busy thread today :j
A lazy Bank Holiday at home for mebut I have:
Not spent anything
Done a load of washing and got it dry outside before it started to rain :T
Done a little bit in the garden, sowed some more carrots, beetroot and salad leaves outside, and resowed the French beans that haven't grown (in the conservatory, couldn't expect them to grow outside yet in any case)
Sorted out and packed a big box of items to take to my sales unit when the shop reopens tomorrow. This includes a lovely vintage part dinner service which had been displayed on the shelves of the dresser in the lounge. I must replace it with something else as it looks a mess nowNo worries though, I have plenty of other things that can go up there in its place :rotfl:
Made a big pot of bolognese to use up bendy vegetables. We have eaten some, but there is plenty for another day (or two). I use a pack of extra lean mince and add loads of veg - this is a habit from when my children were small, as you can hide lots and lots of different veg in a good (though inauthentic) bolognese. Don't need to hide them now, but it is still a good plan for using up bits and pieces that are past their best. Today's had onions, garlic, bendy celery, peppers, bendy carrots, slightly past it mushrooms, tinned tomatoes, herbs from the garden and a chilli
And that is about it
Except I am off babysitting in a minute.
Must do better tomorrow!0 -
Hi everyone and welcome Yorkshire lass.
I have spent day in bed living the dream and eAting leftovers.
Have bought my last house purchase a Ks bed base half price and am now finished. We have spent eight years renovating and it is now done excepting for a few wierd snags. Dh is outside now sawing something and talking to himself! Think this is a happy sign. Anyway a nsd for me and I hope the first of loads and loads to come.
Spring is here we have blossom and bluebells and I am off for a five minute blast of air to enjoy it. Have a lovely evening all. X0
