Yes its pretty good but wife is coming up to 12 months. Been told now that pay is ending.
Looking at policy it seems manager is able to extend this if they see fit.
Anyone else got experience of this? Im assuming her manager has decided not to.... :-(

Hi Paul
Its probably a good idea to keep the number of threads down to a minimum, so not to clog up the board but also those that give advice in one are not having to repeat it in another.
The point regarding sick pay, personally the manager is sensible not to increase this any further as if they do it in one case it can cause issues if another one arises.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

LOL. Different subjects I thought..... :-)
Yes I dont think it will be increased. I guess from managers point of view after a while they want that person gone so they can get a replacement. Whilst on sick they are still on the books.0 -
All the threads are related even those going back Months.
Extension would be reasonable when there was a planned return to work in sight.0 -

Why would it be reasonable?0 -
The problem is that there may not be another role for your wife to go to even if she's thought to be fit enough.
There is the possibility of being dismissed on medical grounds as there is no suitable work for her to do. Don't know what I'm doing, but doing it anyway... :huh:0 -
Yes, our employer is similar, being public sector. Usually, you can appeal against going onto half pay or nil pay and I do this for members of the Union. It is usually successful if the cause is work related stress, and almost always successful if a work related injury. Any other illness, not usual.
Of course, if it's not work related then usually by now the employer would look at dealing with the member of staff through capability.0 -
Why has she been off work for 12 months?0
