Like chanz suggests it may just be that experian and equifax have removed whilst disputing. Which could mean that the entry then reappears.
Definitely something to watch out for as a possibility, especially if there is a risk you get accepted for a mortgage when not showing and they reappear prior to the mortgage lenders credit search before completion.

Why do you feel bad? You're Mum used your name fraudulently - she should be the one feeling bad.
It's an awful situation to be in. OP has my sympathy.:(

Just called the debt company. 8 weeks for an investigation. It'd be fine if it was 6 weeks. I feel so sad :(

We are supposed to sign missives end of June - I wonder if I could get it extended, but I highly doubt it, and I'm not sure if we should put down the other 1% deposit required.

    Really rubbish for you Kat.

It may be worth speaking to a mortgage broker to see if they are likely to be able to find a lender willing to lend to you even with it on, but that obviously would likely be a more expensive mortgage.

Alternatively can you back the purchase by a few weeks?

Tixy, I've got a battle plan. I am going to call them every day until they sort it out and just be really annoying. I find that if you don't have any interaction companies tend to take as long as they want.

I've given them everything they need, and Mum has said she'll pay the balance as soon as it's in her name. I sent the letter and the form first class recorded delivery yesterday so they should receive it on Tuesday (is Monday a bank holiday for Royal Mail?)

Post on the mortgages and endowments board and one of the brokers on there will give you some advice, one default 4 years ago does not mean a mortgage won't be possible, it may limit your options or mean a higher rate, but should still be doable if everything else adds up.

They're pretty useless. They won't give me any information as it's considered as 'advice', which is ridiculous. All I want to know is what lenders I can look at.

I don't want to go to a broker. I want to do it myself.

Pretty unfair statement. If you understood the reasons & regulatory implications for why they can't directly name lenders, you might learn why. The brokers on that board contribute a lot of free & valuable information and guidance out of their own time, which I've learnt a great deal from, even as a second time buyer.

Agree with Malmo. I also don't understand the reluctance to use a broker. They are absolutely the best placed people to help you achieve your goal. It is your choice whether to use one or not, but to use the terms 'ridiculous' and 'useless' is just rude. They are actually acting professionally by not posting the information you want.

I find their posts very informative and appreciate that they take time to post constructive and useful information.

Pick up the phone them. A better use of your time.

Rather than wasting other peoples that may find you waiting even longer. As being intentionally annoying has it's downsides.
