After a false restart a month or so ago, I'm back again to take control of my financesI had surgery at the end of Feb and my recovery wore me out a little more than I had planned for.
In the meantime... OH took the reins with groceries and blew the budgets almost instantly, my 9yr old American Bulldog was diagnosed with cancer and left us a few weeks laterand I was informed that work would no longer be having a night team, so I would be losing £200 a month in Night Premiums. So, it's been a bit of a financial nightmare.
Oh, and I've gained 1.5 stone and none of my nice clothes fit anymore.
So... OH is paid today and I've stepped up to start afresh!
Welcome back Tash, Sorry to hear that you have had so much to deal with recently. Hope you are recovering well from your operation. Good luck with it, but don't do too much too fast and endanger your health. Take care xx0 -
What about comping, am sure I have seen lots of comps for Australia - might pass your time, might win things to make life easier, better or even to sell

I love comping and have won lots of great goodies for my family, friends, charity and while recovering it's been a great way to pass the time. My top tips
Don't pay to enter comps
Maybe set up a separate email address
Check emails daily and get rid of spam/respond to winning emails.
Hope this helps
Done a quick check and this year so far I have won £700 of prizes, that doesn't include some that I can't out a price on like the Churchill slippers - so to me it's worth a shot
If you have relatives in the UK you could always enter those and get the prizes delivered to relativesGoodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

I ended up in Meadowhall last night due to the M62 closure - decided to stop off, have something to eat and wait it out. I did spend on tea but didn't buy anything else whilst I was in there so quite pleased with myself! Eventually got home at 9pm so that was a long day.Goodreads 2025 Challenge :16/75

Hi All
Ziggy - thank you. If my post yesterday had worked it would have said I'm feeling a lot better after a good day at work, thank you!
So my big news today is I finally have the insurance settlement (part 1) in my hand. I will be running off to the bank later to deposit that.
The unexpected but very nice thing is that the senior manager at the ombudsman I sent my complaint to regarding THEIR service, called me first thing, was amazing. You know when someone just says all the right things to make you feel heard? In addition to agreeing that they have really let me down, he has offered me £200 as an apology. I was not expecting that at all, the fact he was so kind and emphatic of what I've been put through was enough. I of course accepted!
So not a bad start to the day! OH & I need to sit down tonight and decide what we need to do first (apart from pay accountant off)
Had a bit of a melt down at home this morning. We were late in last night from the school run which wasn't great. I checked over son's clothing and decided he didn't need his uniform washing. In the meantime bustled around doing everything else, lunch boxes, reading homework etc. In the meantime unbeknown to me, he decided to put his full uniform in the washing sack that I'd left on the landing. I chucked it on with half an eye as it was late etc. Then 20 mins before we were due to go out this morning he suddenly asks where his school shorts were (they wear specific ones) & of course they were soaking wet as I'd not thought it was a rush to hang the laundry out day. So we all had a horrible stressful time of it trying to find something else suitable as the school are strict on what is supposed to be worn.
It could all have been avoided with a tiny bit more thought and it pushes all my control freak buttons!
Back for a better read later.
Bob
Well done Bob, that is great news on the Insurance and Ombudsman front and bless your little boy - am sure all us parents have been there no matter how old our kiddies

Hi Everyone
Just back again to comment properly this time.
Shortie - Have a great holiday, hope its relaxing and lovely.
Dawn - What a pain still having to have your heating on.
Ollie - Yes the internet is a well known time drainer if you let it. On the nights I am at home, I can easily spend 3 hours reading on my phone & then wonder where the night went
Twiggy - Not meaning to sound judgemental (my last ever intention) but I never understand people having lots of things about to go off. With the exception of dried goods, I literally eat up what we have, then buy more. I think Im in the minority though from what I read?
Carrie - I think we are the same at the moment, I am waking up pooped every morning. Just not getting to recharge some how. Sympathies and saturday is only around the corner! TF.
DD265 - Any news on your new place yet?
Hannah - Hope you have a good night hitting the spreadsheets. Its so theraputic I find.
BB - What do you buy, is it from a SUMA type company? I was sorely tempted to start one of those up. Good for so many reasons.
JoJo - Thanks, that must have been annoying for you. I wouldnt be the first woman to roll her eyes and say 'men' Im sure
TidyupTash - Welcome back Tash, nice to see you again. Sorry you feel you've slid back a bit though, but you couldnt be in a better place.
Ziggy - OMG at your prize draw wins! £700 is incredible. You are a bigger womble than me" Your vibe attracts your tribe":D

Shortstuff - get that mini SORN'ed!!
Lol, I often go to sign myself off as Shortstuff but thunk people would think I was bonkers (they wouldn't be far off the mark)
She has been SORN'd and I now just have to slowly save up for the broken parts, new paint (hoping my Dad will teach me to respray so would be just paint costs) and buying in bits to digitize her - being so short I have to really stretch to reach the radio :rotfl: plus I want to buy a digital speedo for her as I'm fed up of having to duck down to see my actual speed around 60mphApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
