Thursday 30th April - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

    Good Morning All

    Bob - Sending big hugs, sorry you are so down at the moment :o

    Hi to all of the regulars and a BIG welcome to all the newbies, this is a really FAB thread with so many lovely, caring, considerate and supportive people.

    Well yesterday I managed to make 30 cards for Spring Fayre at mum's place and managed to sort/use up quite a bit of craft stuff but I'm also making two craft boxes up for my nieces and grandkiddies - I have to be realistic there is only so much "stuff" I can and will use, plus I need to re-think just how much stuff I save - odd playing cards, old calendars, etc. Today's little list:

    Packed lunch for DH & DS - Done
    Make appointment for eye test - Done, should be no warnings of stroke this year
    Clean patio doors inside - Done
    TV off & music on (smooth jazz yesterday, wonder what today will bring - 80's rock?/power ballads:rotfl:)- Power Ballads - apologies if it caused further rain/snow in your part of the country ;)
    Craft - Few more cards and lots more sorting
    Continue purge on Emails - WIP
    Continue purge on FB & Twitter - WIP
    Surveys - Done a few
    Check Banks - Done
    Check swapits -
    Enter a few comps - Done a few
    All meals from cupboards/fridge/freezer - Done
    Make (another) Fruit Salad - Tomorrow
    Pamper feet this evening - Done, they will be ready for Summer when it arrives ;)
    Check https://www.freepostcodelottery.com - Remember there are now 5 chances to win - Done
    Read - Start tomorrow

    Have a great day, love to you all

    C x

    PS Price up large lego base boards - as hoping to turn a magazine table/rack into a lego table for kiddies - it's more a cube but will paint and pop lego base board on top, remove door and put a basket and the side rack can be for books/leaflets

    Morning all

    Love the idea of the lego table Ziggy

    Feelig refreshed today and tomorrow we're off on hols so I am not sure how much I'll be able to post over the weekend

    DFW things for today:

    - I have work breakfast with me (overnight oats with YS raspberries)
    - I have work lunch with me (a ham sarnie and chilli crackers)
    - I have a work snack with me (a few biccies)
    - I have tea and squash in work
    - I need to SORN my Mini - she is my second car and needs work to pass her next MOT. Her tax is due for renewal so I'm taking her off the road and will slowly fix her back up and do the bits to her that I always intended to do. Not point paying tax and full insurance during the time though so will put her on a 'stored' insurance while she's off the road

    Hoping my refund cheque turns up today

    Have a good day all xx

    Morning all. This is my first month of posting under the new regime. Am in the throes of preparation for a house move which will bring big savings once done but is about to cost me lots in expenses in the short term. Today though, I have to lend £20 to Son no. 1 but other than that I will keep my wallet firmly shut.
    Total debt at 18.9.17 £1950

    Morning all :)
    Thanks for starting us off Ziggy.

    Jobs for today:
    Check banks
    Meals from stores
    Heating on only in bathroom and airing cupboard (on timer). It is still cold here - I wish it would warm up again so I could turn it right off!
    Clean log basket and store it away till needed again - hot water bottle and blanket to be used if chilly in the evenings.
    Clean winter boots and store them away, cheaper than having to buy new ones next year because they have been kicking around in the hall for months and got scuffed and damaged!
    Clear up after having baby GD here yesterday
    Make a loaf in the breadmaker
    Think about what to do for supper - meal planning fail :o One thing for certain, it will be something we already have in! Not buying anything!
    Do a bit in the garden if dry
    Pop along to sales unit to see if anything needs doing / tidying / topping up
    Walk there for free exercise
    Ebay item ending today - lots of watchers, but still no bids :(
    Wrap GD3's birthday present ready for her party on Saturday. She will be 5 :)
    Aim for a NSD :D

    Hope everyone has a good day :)

    Hi everyone,

    Thursday is drawing to a close and although it's been a good day for saving money but I feel like it's been a bit wasted.

    Does anyone else get carried away on the internet sometimes? Aside from putting washing on and getting it dry I have literally sat here for about 5 hours scouring the internet for money saving ideas/websites. I signed up to a few survey websites. Checked back and forth across a few websites I've used in the past.

    I feel like I could just keep going for days on end if I was left to it!

    Morning all!

    So last night I sorted through the kitchen cupboards and have a lot in my use it up box! Been living there less than a year and I'm amazed how much stuff is out of date or nearly out of date! Apparently I need to do some baking as well as have an array of different sugars!

    Today I have/will:-
    * Check banks
    * Continue using up free foundation
    * Shuffle washing around on airer so it dries properly
    * Take lunch to work
    * Check whether I've overpaid tax (thanks ally) - apparently I'm due a massive £10 refund!
    * Claim tax refund - need P60 which is at home so I'll do tomorrow
    * Call bank to request new bank card as mine has been rejected a couple of times now despite there being money in there!
    * Earn more SBs
    * Earn more on OnePoll
    * Dinner from stores
    * Go to Zumba
    * Wash hair and let dry naturally

    Think that's everything for today. Hope you all have a good day!
    Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
    Current debt - £6,450.00
    Total paid off - £9,150.89 (58% paid off)

    What about comping, am sure I have seen lots of comps for Australia - might pass your time, might win things to make life easier,better or even to sell

    http://www.competitions.com.au/

    http://www.win-free-stuff.com.au/

    http://www.competitioncrazy.com/

    I love comping and have won lots of great goodies for my family, friends, charity and while recovering it's been a great way to pass the time. My top tips

    Don't pay to enter comps
    Maybe set up a separate email address
    Check emails daily and get rid of spam/respond to winning emails.

    Hope this helps

    Absolutely!

    I ended up in Meadowhall last night due to the M62 closure - decided to stop off, have something to eat and wait it out. I did spend on tea but didn't buy anything else whilst I was in there so quite pleased with myself! Eventually got home at 9pm so that was a long day.

    Pay day today which means:
    - budgeting
    - reconcile accounts
    - pay for holiday
    - buy a few bits for our move

    Also sold a few things on eBay which is great. I need to get the next lot ready to go tomorrow when my next 20 free listings come up, and hoping for a free listing weekend with it being a bank holiday.

    Morning all,
    Thanks for the start Ziggy, we made a lego table for our boys, got the base boards from Amazon. I might have to put some power ballards on here!! :)
    Clf - I need to get to grips with my weight too, (since starting on here I've started baking more...and eating it!)
    Twiggy -I can't believe how in the past I've said we've not got anything in to eat after making my use up box!
    Olliegami - I can easily get sucked into the internet! During the day I set a timer and allow myself just 15 mins at a time on here otherwise the day can disappear!
    Dawn - I hope you get some ebay bids
    Pollygarter - I don't envy a house move, although its a good way of decluttering/getting organised again after.
    Shortie - oats & raspberries sounds a lovely breakfast, have a good holiday.
