I doubt it. he/she will just monitor it, and inform Hq .they won't get drawn into an explanation of any letters, or, advice on what to do.

If they do inform HQ it could cause adverse movement.

One minute we are accusing bank of being all knowing, conniving and in it for themselves and in the next minute we are saying that they are naive and have no clue on how they can close their own loop holes.

The decision not to retrospectively apply the changes to the account terms (for example limits on number of accounts etc) would have been carefully considered at the time they changed the terms of the accounts, with the knowledge that they can change them at any time again.

Love the sense of entitlement people have about these interest rates! after all we (myself included as i have been using this system for years) are making the most of these loop holes, and whilst they are great, at the end of the day we are not entitled to the interest and they can easily choose not to pay the interest.

there are a few accounts that have been closed and no one knows exactly why and this hysteria / paranoia about the potential to close the account is slightly extreme, and me posting rational arguments about why/why these are less likely to be the closure reason is not going to cause a big institution to change its mind and terms.

More likely things like MSE main site, MoneyBox, Which, various newspapers etc who have started to promote ways around these types of accounts and therefore bringing it to a wider audience may make them consider how they bank, not one forum post!

On a practical note to the OP, you can raise a complaint with the bank, they probably won't tell you why but you never know. In addition i would suggest that you check your CIFAS record to ensure that nothing has been added to it etc.

It's also the post that gives the banks plenty of advice and ideas on how to ruin what many have come to enjoy.

Ok I have deleted my post as it contained the quote in question!

I don't for a minute think the banks don't know all the options available to them, then again who knows?!

I'm out of this thread now and fingers crossed.:o

I'm out of this thread now

snap as any attempt at pointing the other side or other potential options across seems to cause more hysteria.

PS for any one who thinks this is 1. something new and 2. will get the account closed, i would suggest that you do a thread search for phrases such as "bank closing my account" "help no bank account" you will see many similar threads such as this where other accounts have been closed.

It reminds me of an incident at a company I once worked for. At christmas time we were all used to bringing in a bottle and having a drink. Then one year a bright spark at a monthly briefing gathering decided to ask the management if it was ok to do this.................

But as I have said before a Lloyds branch selling me the Club card account said you can pay in the £1500 a month to qualify and withdraw it out again straight away. Are we now to assume you should not now be doing this.

You know Mable, sometimes it's best to do things quietly. That way things can go on for years and you have happy folk. Start asking too many questions and posting possibilities to skew a system and the folk who run the sytem will get agitated and want to take action to stop any abuse that's taking place en-masse. You effectively kill off the goose that's laying the golden egg.

I,m also out , and will decide what to do.BUT, don't forget, you cannot fool the banks, they make the rules, and keeping quiet won't stop whatever they intend to do".How" did WE all find out about Tarting, stoozing etc, if not on here and other forums." I DID".
The banks didn't tell me;Don't shoot the messenger, the OP was only stating their case and asked a perfectly reasonable question, to which there is no answer.I am grateful for the OP's post.Thanks.
.Forums are a two edged sword.Keeping STUM will not make it go away, and I doubt if this thread is going to wither on the vine.As I said. "Ignorance is NOT bliss".
Whether those that run the system are agitated remains to be seen.

Perhaps then the staff should not be putting ideas in our head then only to run foul of the rules later.
