Quick Question re PE and Aldi

Following my appeal to Aldi re one of their PE scam invoices they have decided to cancel the charge :j (theres another £70 they wont be getting)

Aldi have informed me electronically and state they have informed PE who will confirm in writing within 28 days the invoice has been cancelled.

Clearly if they take the full 28 days this will take me well over the appeal period and was wondering if it was best practice to copy the e-mail into their online appeals section prior to the end of the allocated time, whilst at the same time request POPLA code if they do not see fit for whatever reason to cancel :rotfl:

Recommendation is to appeal anyway, to avoid any such issues, and include an appeal point that the landowner has instructed for the PCN to be cancelled:

    x) Your client Aldi have informed me that they have instructed you to cancel this PCN (see attached) therefore this appeal must be upheld.

I agree with bod1467 - submit an appeal anyway.

I had the same issue with PE and Aldi and hadn't had confirmation of cancellation through so submitted an appeal. Got a confirmation of cancellation from PE by email followed by a postal letter rejecting my appeal and giving me a POPLA code - so I did that too and cost them the fee as well

  • Having never seen an Aldi PE case receive a court claim could there be a "no court claim" clause in their contract ?

That's definitely been the suspicion but as they never produce an Aldi contract to POPLA I don't think it's ever been confirmed.

There's also the possibility of a get out of jail free card involving a minimum spend clause too. It's thought to be about £30.
  • by submitting a appeal don't they then get charged £27 by popla?

OP is only at 1st stage appeal to the PPC so not sure I understand what you mean.
  • sorry , my bad , retain letter from aldi , but expect invoice from PE for £50 or so , for "wasting" there time ,
  • Thanks for the advice to clarify i have only just recieved the invoice and following consultation with Aldi they have confirmed they will cancel the PCN with their contractors

I still have a couple of weeks left to appeal and will be doing so soon but was wondering with the PE online appeal system can you submit an additional appeal for the same PCN

What additional appeal? You haven't appealed to PE at all yet, have you?

If not, simply send them the template appeal from the NEWBIES thread (drop the "rant" paragraph if you wish) and add in the appeal point from my earlier post.
  • No i have not submitted any appeal and out of curiosity was wondering as this is they only means of contacting them that on asking them to clarify a point i can then subsequently submit my soft appeal utilising the same PCN number
