I left out a shredder in the front garden to take out to the council skip on the weekend (last week).
Come saturday I went about loading everything up in my car. Picked up the shredder and began looking for the AC cable so I can hold it in my hand to avoid tripping over it. Then I think "hey, where's the cable gone?!?".
I realise there isn't one. Some toerag decided to cut the cord off and walk away with it, leaving the shredder behind.
The Shredder has some big heavy teeth - so I thought there must've been some value in that.
So what's the story? is a piece of power cable worth more than the shredder is scrap?
generally am a bit annoyed, if you're going to illegally collect rubbish from someone's front garden, due the curtosy of taking the whole unit, don't just take the expensive bits and leave the rest behind.

There has been a major earthquake in Nepal and you are worrying about something you were throwing out.0 -
No real value, but some people can't resist old power cords.
I sometimes keep them myself, to strip the conductor out when i'm doing project work and need small bits of mains cable.
The worrying thing is when somebody makes an extension lead from an old power cord, a cord which had no earth, the result is a positively dangerous extension lead with no earth connection.“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

First world problems, I struggled to find somewhere to park at Whitby today. Was seething with rage at this old couple in their Micra taking up 2 spaces.0 -

Is that relevant in any way whatsoever? If so, let's throw out all moneysaving threads except ones on that subject.
Have to agree with that.
Roughly 150,000 people die every day worldwide, all of them special to someone without appearing on the news.Science isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -

And ?
I think your neighbours might be a bit annoyed at you making the area look like Steptoe's rag and bone yard.
I really don't understand why on earth you had to come and rant about it here.
To answer your question copper is currently trading at $6060/tonneScience isn't exact, it's only confidence within limits.0 -
The cable sheath makes two good bits of ties and the inner cables make good ties as well.Do you want your money back, and a bit more, search for 'money claim online' - They don't like it up 'em Captain Mainwaring0

Round our way W3, fridges and cookers etc left outside are soon plucked from the pavement for the scrap metal.Peel back your baby's eyelid to find no nationality or religious identity mark there. Peer at your baby's eyes for them to reflect back just people-throw away your flags and religious symbols...0
