It's ok, the customer service line is now 03, I misread the page. The opinion here was that they were not allowed to be using an 0845 number for customer services before, but at least they've switched it now.

Have you checked your provider's connection fee which could add another 5-15p to the call. 2p a minute sounds reasonable until you have to press seventeen buttons, listen to rubbish music for twenty minutes or more and then argue with someone at the other end for 10 minutes or so.

You could still ramp up a quid or so

I feel your pain; Southern Water are using a 0330 number now. I know this because at present I'm ringing them every week to try and get £11.99 refund due from them for my late mother's account. Soon, I fear, it will be every day.

As with all these things I start off as sweet as pie and then after weeks of frustration I have to be thoroughly unpleasant in order to get a response from them.

The words "blood" and "stone" come to mind!!
A cunning plan, Baldrick? Whatever it was, it's got to be better than pretending to be mad; after all, who'd notice another mad person around here?.......Edmund Blackadder.
  • Having rung Southern Water again this morning and carried on alarming at the phone operative, at last I have now received the cheque for £11.99 from them at last.

It's an awful lot of effort, but I've found that it pays to be persistent with most companies these days. In the end I've found that I do eventually get what I want if I'm tenacious enough.:T
