Thanks, I have since found an old thread with the same sort of question and someone was told by the DVLA that they could do a straight swap, they just had to let them know that's what was happening. That was in 2010 so hopefully still applies. No problem with age both vehicles have 'old' numbers.
    Cheers.

I guess if you're not in a rush you could go down that route, I think you'll still have to pay 2 * £80.

    How old is 'old' though.

That would be fine if the numbers were from before 1963.

Any number after that is age related and can't be put on a car that is older than the number.

    For example you can't put a 1998 number on a 1994 vehicle.

Well the other vehicle is 1960's in the form ABC 123A so its plate can go on the 2010 car OK as it makes it look older. The 2010 car has a personal plate in the form ABC 303 so that should be ok to go on the classic vehicle too?
European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.

    Thanks.

That's really helpful (genuinely no sarcasm there)

Only thing is it's no good for people who work 'normal' hours. Only available 8am-6pm.

I started work today at 7:30am & finished at 6:30pm.

The earliest i can get done is 5:30pm but then the earliest i can get home is 6:00pm. :(

That's good - so no problems there then. :)
  • Was able to get this done today. Smartphones on your dinner break FTW :)

How do you go about getting the logbook (V5C) to display your new reg then?
The current vehicle has been put back to its old reg. I'm assuming we should've had plates ready but they've been ordered & should be with us soon.
What of the V5C though? Is a new one sent out automatic as part of this online feature or does some form need to be filled in?

I saw the alterations to vehicle section of the V5C but there's nothing there mentioning changing the registration.
