I have just read that hybrid tulips are short lived, 2-3 years at most so it could be these were older bulbs.

What's the name of the variety you ordered?

    Hi

They are called "first class triumph".

They may well be older bulbs but they are significantly different to the photos and description in the Ebay listing.

Triumph is a type of tulip. Wasn't there a variety name as well?

If I'm right I have read the businesses response to negatives-he/she is very aggressive!
They have a facebook page and there is feedback there saying " very rude sellers. Plants and bulbs are questionable". According to ebay if items are not as described you can report them to consumer direct.

The seller has 14000 positive feedback !!

But when I have just checked her negative feedback over the last few months her replies to buyers are, as you say, very aggressive and rude.

I would be annoyed as you may have spent time planning the colour scheme of your garden.

Last year I bought some phlox plug plants from Thompson & Morgan, different colours. They came in a plastic clear container with the little plants in certain sections that said A-e are red, f-j are pink etc. however, the plants weren't in the correct sections, so I had no idea what colour they would be! I complained and they gave me a refund. The plug plants also didn't do very well either!

    Exactly !

I'm a little disappointed that some people on here think I am being petty but if you specifically choose a certain colour and then spend time preparing the ground for them only to find they are different to what you bought then it's annoying.

Even more annoying when the seller behaves like it's "just one of those things" and her 14000+ feedback on Ebay "speaks for itself"

Op, I am not an horticulturist and the Paypal staff won't be, but you have the right to open a Paypal dispute 180 days from the purchase date.

Be succinct, accurate and give evidence. Don't waffle and you should get your refund. Clearly this is one item you can't return in the same state it was purchased in.

If you didn't get what you ordered, you are not being petty. Good luck and do post back.

Thanks. She has responded to my Paypal claim by offering a refund if I send them back.

Although I have seriously toyed with the idea of digging out all 100 bulbs (now with eight inch stems) and sending them back to her I may decide to put it down to experience after discovering something about the seller that makes me not want to rattle their cage.........

  • Just don't buy any "mushrooms" from her or yellow will be the only colour you'll see
